Do you own one? Is it accurate/reliable? Can you shoot surplus .308 NATO, or do you need to stick to US commercial .308 Winchester ammo? Overall, how do like your gun? Can I have it? Thanks

A 16" Saiga in .308 will probably be my next rifle. That is, if they make a decent 20 round magazine. Add a folding stock and pistol grip and you've got a cheap, tough, reliable battle rifle.

And where will you get parts for it? Now & 10 years down the road?

I love it. Its tough, a real russian AK, accurate, and is fun as hell. I did a pistol grip conversion as well. EAA is importing 20rd mags too. Its the best battle Rifle for the cash, bar none. You can make one for $350 or less. I love mine.

I had one for a weekend.

Even got to take it to Gun Stock.  Reliable? Heck ya!

Every time I fired a round, the dust cover popped right off, like clock work I tell ya!!

But to be honest, I owne another Saiga, and it's a great rifle.  I think I just got a bad one.  From my reading since I took it back to my FFL, I suspect the trouble was with the dust cover.  We'll see if Davidson's fixes it or sends me a new one.  Either way, I'm not worried.

Still seems like a good, solid rifle for the money!

And what is going to break? Most parts are standard AKM or RPK anyway.

Well, when they break, it's a simple task (I'm told) to turn it into a standard AK.

Then it's parts city forever.

What about ammo? Can you shoot 7.62 NATO milsurp, or do you need to stick to US commercial? Thanks

Bought a NIB Saiga 16" BBL .308 in Sept., 04  $268.00 OTD -- not a single problem W/400 rds thru it. -- It eats anything I feed it and is so much easier to clean than my FAL,  M1As & Garands in .308 -- It is 10x more dependable than my AR10 and has better sights than my CETME.  -- Right from the box I could roll a beer can at 100 yds W/open sights(factory settings).  -- I will buy another W/a longer BBL. -- For the money, Saigas are hard to beat.  I have NEVER had a problem of any kind W/my 7.62x39 or .223 Saigas either.  -- I wish they made them in 7.62x54R for the same price as a .308. -- Just my opinions,  Good luck, ALLONS11
