They have said in the posts under Cav Arms the standard stock has "less felt recoil".  One thing I have considered is putting a mercury tube in the car stock.  My Brother came up with an easy way to do it.  We just don't have the extra cash to try it right now. Low priority for us on our gun buy list.

It could be a good setup for slug barrels and 3.5" mag loads.  I prefer pumps, but I have no desire to eat 3.5" mag loads on my shoulder if it is not a semi-auto. A CAR stock with Mercury tube could be an option?  Somebody just needs to try it.

That's a great idea, but isn't the price kinda ridiculous?

Just got back from shooting the SST-870 up at Rio Salado. It works great! This system allows you to mount your dot sights without permanent modification to your shotgun. It also solves issues of how to setup a compact shotgun and still have a shoulderable stock. Anyone that has had a side folder on a shotgun knows how flimsy some of those are, this is ROCK SOLID.

Get one, you wont be sorry.

TheFNG and I met up with Russell at the range.  Reasonably "cool" day to go shooting, seemed like it hovering right around 98 degress or so.

He had a 14" NFA 870 with a ZM folder on it (way cool) and what I believe was a 21" bbl 870 with a 7+1 cap.

I shot the NFA first.  I only had Winchester SuperSpeed, 2 3/4", 3 1/4 dr, 7/8 oz, 8 shot shells with me.  The recoil was fine even though the ZM stock did not have recoil pad on it.  It seemed likethe followup was quicker, but I was just shooting at dirt.  The cheel weld with the OKO was balls on on both shotguns.  Lining up with the sight was quick and instintive.

On the 21", recoil was beautiful and smooth.  Using this gun with the C1 stock made followups very quick.

On both the guns, this conversion looks great and just feels right.  The SST870 has a lot of utility for the shooter who can appreciate a new and unique product for the market.

It seems like with wide proliferation of AR15s and their numerous accessories, this is the most likely eveloution for this popular shotgun.  It's great that someone finally came out with it.

Good job Russ

Is there any way to make that top rail longer in order to mount a red dot scout style ?

How will you address the safety location on the Mossbergs?
It is a very appealing concept...I like it a lot. However, the cost is just a tad too high for me to afford at this point.

Good question.

I dont use the safety on mine, so it is a mute point for me. Others might be interested in that though.

I'm going to wait for the longer rail. You said maybe February? At a gun show?
