I bought 2,000 of them brand new manufacture at a gun show in Georgia before I moved back to AZ about 9 months ago. Paid around $75 if I recall for all 2k bullets. I'd hate to imagine what they're going for nowadays :-O

Good idea. The gun show is in town this weekend so I'll definitely keep my eyes open while I'm there.

While I'm at it, is there a particular powder that can be recommended for this load?

Personally I've always used AA 2230 for all my .223 loads.

Might keep your eyes peeled for pulled black-tip .30-06 rounds too. I've seen those at various shows as well. The supply of those is probably dwindling just as quickly.

You have any idea what those black tips weigh and how much they're going for? I'd need an idea of price so I don't get ripped off.

I want to say they're around 163-165 grain bullets. No idea on current pricing. I see some loaded black-tip 30-06 on gunbroker for better than $1 a round. The pulled ones are on there every now and then, I just don't know how much they're going for nowadays - probably not very cheap if I had to guess.

MY loads with 2230 were very good. IMR 4895 was a little better for my rifle though.

Link to a thread where I list my loads.
