Anyone know how much to open up the gas port on the SL8 when shortening to 16"s? I figure it will need a little opening.

Don't need to do that. I had ARS turn chop and thread the barrel.

Are you sure they didnt open your gas port up? Ive alread turned mine down with a lighter profile and shortened to 16+. I figure Id try to find out what size to make the port before putting it back together and testing it.

Mine was shortened to 16.1" (no gas port changes) and I have had no problems with it.
