I'm looking for a SKS for blastin'. Caveats, I'm in Caliban so no grenade launchers (No Yugos!). Must have a fixed mag, 10 rounds.

I'm not as interested in a Chinese as a Russian or Romanian, function & price over looks.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes, go to a gun show near you & look over what's available given your state's communist govt. Then take your pick.

Try here:

Romanian SKS's are drying up on the dealer market, however, they are still around for resale. There are still Chinese and the more expensive Russian rifles available.

the russians are the best but at $300 and UP they are pricey.
the chinese are good too but harder to find, ive seen them at around $250-300 at the gun show, there is a table at the SoCal gun shows run by an asian couple that have 2 NIB chinese SKS's, they also sell lots of AK supplies too.

the romanian runs around $180-220, depending on where you get them, they are rough looking but as long as you inspect it, match the numbers, and get Good nice metal then the wood stock can be refinish nicely, i think.
i would have no trouble getting a romanian and depending on it, i think the metal quality is near that of a russian, with finish blemishes at worst. the stocks look bad but with some sanding and painting i think they will come out ok.
i know turners has a sale on the Rom SKSs once in a while, martin b rettings in culver city has them too.
