How in the world can two tan scars be so different in color? That's a redundant question, I know how color can differ with anodizing.

The question is more like do they even try to make the color consistent from batch to batch?

One is a dull, flat tan that really matches the magazines well.

The other is a goldish bronze that glares in the sunlight. Not sure which is more ugly yet.

The bronze IMHO is the worst. The flat color matches the motif better, that said, the older green looking receivers are definitely the most sought after.

How come they can't get one SCAR only one color? Lol. Each of those has like 6 different colors ...

My Black one is one color, but not my FDE

Is it just me or does the SCAR stock look like a small robotic/prosthetic foot?

I don't understand why it matters.  The gubbermintz doesn't care.  My 2 FDE 17s are 9 different colors.
Couldn't care less.

My 16S is more of a greenish-tan as well. I wonder if it has something to do with how diluted the anodizing batch gets after use or something.

I actually like the multiple colors.

I think the different colors make it look better.

I don't usually like FDE guns the solid FDE color (tavor, scorpion, etc) is just too much IMO.

FN is about the only FDE guns l like. My FNX 45T and SCAR17.

At least neither have been scratched or soiled from use and are safely on a soft rug

I don't care about the 50 shades of FDE on each rifle.

I do wish that they could get the receivers to be all the same color though. The color and brightness of these two "fde" receivers is WAY different.

I've actually never seen one be as goldish-bronze as this new one is. Been hunting in the pic thread but I can't find anything even similar.

The gold is pretty fugly, IMO.  You would think a $3k rifle would have better quality control.

When I got mine in I was initially disgusted to find my 17 looking almost green rather than FDE. I guess I just expected it to be all matching like in call of duty lol. Seriously, if you didn't tell me I would have assumed it was supposed to be OD. It's grown on me quite a bit since, however, I actually kinda like it. And yes, from what I read the OD has a bit of desirability among certain SCAR aficionados.

How is anything pictured an issue with "quality control"?

Tan anodizing is inconsistent across batches. For example, check out the statement from Geissele relating to their DDC:

FDE doesn't mean ghetto gold, that's how. Quality control is about consistency, some variation can occur, sure.  The pic that's posted in this thread isn't what most people would call a slight variation of FDE, and they would be 100% correct.

As long as mine continues to run and take a beating like Tina Turner I don't care if it's purple.  There are major variations in the FDE rifles, either buy a black on or have it cerakoted if it bothers you.  The real quality in these rifles is in the performance.

I own 5 of them, it doesn't bother me. Lol

I just find it funny. I personally wouldn't have let a cartel edition blinged out gold SCAR leave the factory, but I will use it and shoot it like all the others.

Welp, it looks like you know what all of the "variations" in "FDE"---and the degrees/variations thereof---should be. So, I will defer to you. You may want to share your expertise with FNH, I'm sure they would love to know.

This thread was derp when it started and, save for the few who recognize that what's pictured is not actually a problem, is full of derp. May fit and finish guide you all to the promised land.

I should have known better than to get involved.

Seriously considering just rattle canning or maybe even hydro dipping the cartel SCAR. Your hydro dipped one looks great honestly. Also seems like it holds up a lot better than krylon.

I'd go all the way with the gold one and add gold fire controls, mag release etc.  My SCAR is a very consistent boring black all around.  :(

Its chic boutique camo.

Its meant to be different colors to break up the lines.

Do you even operationally operate bro?

It appears the new batch that came in this year are pretty much gold. Looked at one at a local store here. Looks horrible.

Worse than the one in the OP?

And I know how you feel. This one will get rattle canned at some point soon.

In theory, ya know, theoretically speaking...

They make 'em in brown so they are less visible, ya know?  Harder to see?

If I dropped $3K on a rifle that I ordered in brown, and it showed up in pimp-plate gold?

Shit. Not even cool.

And I don't even care about the multiple shades of brown on the gun but damn.  That's some shit from Rent-a-Rim down on MLK Boulevard.

OP, Krylon that shit.

Step 1:  Pay ~$3,000 for a plastic and extruded aluminum gun that was designed to be cheap to manufacture because it's built to military standards.

Step 2:  Complain because it's built to military standards.

I don't have an inside track at FNH or to the TDP, but most likely there is an acceptable range within which the colors must fall.  These ranges are usually quite wide.  As long as all the colors are within that range, it goes out the door.  Your two may simply be at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Lol I know that. This thread wasn't a serious "why are my scars all different colors and shit??" thread. You're taking this more seriously than I am.

Obviously I'm pretty familiar with the different colors and flavors....
