I know that I can get Ruger 20 round magazines for the mini 14, but I was wondering if anyone else made some that work like they should.

I also need a source for mini 30 magazines.  I can't find anything over 5 rounds besides aftermarket stuff and I've got no idea what's good and what's garbage.

And before someone tells me to get an AR or an AK, I've got both and like them, but I've also got a mini 14 and mini 30 that I like as well.

Thanks,
Robert

The PMI magazines are good also.

Do you have a source for those?

CDNN sells PMI 20, 30 and I think 40 round mags for the Mini 14.

I used to own a Mini 30. The best mags I found believe it or not was USA mags. I bought 20 round plastic mags from Eagle and they were junk. The Eagle mags split in two when I was deer hunting.

I'd considered USA mags, but I've never heard anything positive about them until now.  Not a lot of negative stuff either, just a lot of "if you can't find anything else then get a USA mag" kind of things.

Ive got about 10 USA mags for the mini 14, all 30 rounders and 1 40 rounder.

the 40 rd has never worked, and sucks.  One of the 30s has never worked.

the rest I had troubles with for a while until I loaded them up for about 3 month and the springs got a little weaker, since then Ive had zero problems and I shoot it quite a bit.

I would definately rather have the PMI, Ive heard nothing but good things about them.  But I think they are Out of business.

Of couse I believe USA is out of business also.

Ive got one eagle brand plastic one that works well, but if you ever drop it on concrete while its loaded it will break in half, I had that happen to a plastic ramline mag a few years ago.

PMIs aren't that hard to find, just got to know what you are looking for.

You are looking for PMI Mini-14 mags.<G>

I saw CDNN advertising the 40 round mags recently.  That Delta outfit might have some too.

I e-mailed CDNN about their 20 round Mini 14 and Mini 30 mags and they said that they were made by National.  Does anyone know anything about this company?  I'm really wanting 20 rounders.

I found some NIB Ruger factory Mini 14 20 round mags for $29.99 each.  Is that a decent price?  It's the best price that I've found so far for factory mags.  I'm a bit leary of non-factory stuff like USA due to past experiences.

30 dollars is a good price. That is 5 bucks less than the ones for sale in Shotgun News.

During the AWB I paid $70 for a Ruger 30 round Mini 14 mag.

I have a friend who owns a factory Ruger ACC556 (full auto mini 14) and the PMI mags work just as good full auto as the factory mags.

Click on the Precision, for Precision Mag Industries (PMI)

And also, some may or may not have the .223/5.56 floorplate.  I think all of my 30s are blank, while my 20 is marked.

ETA Also check the for sale section on Perfect Union, PMIs show up for sale quite a bit at good prices.

I've found that the Triple K 20 rounders work flawlessly in my Mini 14.

I went ahead and picked up some Ruger mags for the Mini 14 from fourfourmag.com.  Now I just need to find some good 20 rounders for the Mini 30.  Did Ruger ever make any?

BTW, PMI is out of business and USA might be.  At least that's what I'm finding when I search.

I contacted Sportsman's Guide about their mags and they wouldn't even tell me what brand they are.  They said "Thank you for the E-mail. I am sorry we do not have manufacture information for this item, the mags may be made by many different manufacturers.  If you have any other questions please contact us."

WTF!

One last thing.  I contacted Omegamanenterprises.com about Mini 30 mags and got this reply.

"Our Ruger Mini 14 mags can be found on this page.. there are no high quality high cap mags manufactured for the Mini 30 at this time, we won't sell USA brand and other junk brand mags."

At least they know what brand they're selling.

glad you got the factory mags... if 20 rounders are big enough no reason to buy aftermarket stuff.  With mini30 mags I had GREAT luck with USAs... I know they have the reputation of being total garbage but they actually worked great in my 30... maybe the Mini30 is more forgiving of crappy mags!

I'll have to give them a try.  Any recommendations as to where to get the best price?
