Well, broke down and picked up this little gem;

Contemplating what glass to put on it. Thinking a 3-9 X 50 would be a bit much. Maybe a 1-4 Trijicon Accupoint would go well. My primary use will be white tail at 150 or less (mostly under 100).

That and just plain old plinking.

Very nice rifle......I would go for a 2x7 Leupold or something along those lines for that baby.....

I think your best bet for the mags would be Ruger, or possibly CDNN.

A straight 4x. Should be more than enough for 150 yards. In my opinion most people over scope rifles.

but that's the whole fun in it

doesnt that describe the whole gun industry these days?

im contemplating a single shot .25-06 and if i do get it, it will wear a straight 6x weaver K6. i think i found them for like $150, $160 maybe

1-4 Trijicon would perfect for it. I've been thinking of scoring one of these for whitetail in brush and hog hunting.

I'd go for something in the 1-4x range with an illuminated reticle (we can hunt hogs at night).

Correct about overscoping,lots do it for lazy sighting in,buy a spotting scope for that,a 3X ought to do it for that .44 round that drops 6" from a 50 yard zero.I shoot silhouette firing on targets from 200 to 500 meters and I got a 10x and is great at all the distances and no shakes either

My only issue with a 4x fixed is there are times when that is too much on a rifle like this. I would go with a VXII 1-4X or maybe even a FXII 2.5x Ultralight.

Look into the Weaver V3. It's 1x-3x and a very clear piece of glass-can often be found for $125 or so.

That's what I did

300 grain XTP bullets & WW296 powder make a great 100 yard whitetail load.

Sorry for the delay, trigger is great. Haven't measured it, but probably 4-5 lb range and real clean and crisp. I would prefer a bit lighter, but it is very clean, so no problem.

I'd go with a low power variable. Something along the lines of a 1-4x or similar.

In my Deerfield (semi 44 mag carbine) I use a VXI 2-7. I like it alot. My other choice would be a 2.5 fixed.

Put a 1.5x6 on it or a shotgun scope in 1x4..I got on my old .44 Ruger semiauto the 1x4 and the 96/44 lever the 1.5x6

When I hunt deer in timber I prefer a 3-9 power scope. If I don't take binoculars a 9 power is appreciated for spotting deer coming in and I've never had a shot so close that a 3 power was too much.

I put a sear in my 77/22 and the difference is night and day. I think they are fairly cheap, around $40.
