If so, how do you guys like 'em? It seems like the JLD based clones are the most reliable. I've officially got a V51P on order as of today.

I just picked mine up today. Appears to be a nice, tight, well finished firearm. I am in the process of filling out the SBR paperwork. Two weeks ago I bought 25 mags from Tapco for .99 cents each, and will pick up a fixed and retractable stock after ATF approval. I think we are in for some fun. A friend has an HK 51, He claims you can use the 51 for self defense without aiming, the blast will torch the assailant. Good luck getting yours.

Great info., thanks. Is it difficult to yank the charging handle back? Please post a range report when you get a chance to take her out.

Yeah, I'd be interested in hearing a range report too - kicking around the idea of picking up one of those or a BW5.

Accomplice, Yes it is hard to pull back the charging handle. I may make it to the range this coming weekend. If I make it I will post a report for you guys.

I made it to the range today and fired the V51. NICE!!! Shooting a .308 as a pistol will put hair on your chest. Function was 100% with Port. surplus. I did not attempt to test for accuracy but I did hit the hill side 20 feet away every time. Not as much flash or noise as I had been led to believe but still alot of flash and noise. SBR paperwork sent in. I think a stock will make this a fun gun. I am considering an aimpoint, what do you think?

Go for it, have you looked into the Smith Enterprises Vortex flashhider? Don't know how much reduction it will give you if you are into that sort of thing. Of course one of them naughty muzzlebreaks might make for an impressive earsplitting show.

Glad to hear that it ran so well. The form 1 is a good move. These HK rifle-derived pistols are merely range toys without a stock on them. I've never had an aimpoint but I put Eotechs on all of mine and have been happy with those.

Accomplice, I have a couple of Eotechs on ARs and one on my M16 and I love them. But, it seems that the aimpoint is better proportioned to the 51. Just my preference I guess. When is your V51 scheduled to arrive?

Faust,

That looks incredible. I ordered my V51 pistol with that navy style lower. Once its SBR'd I'm putting that same old-school styled stock on it. So far, yours and this one are my two favorite 51 types...

How would one put a flash hider on one of these beasts....

I just got told I had a 6 month wait for my mp5 build at IGF, and was thinking of one of these to tide me over....

Faust 245,

when you put that A3 stock on that gun did you need to do anything to it like install a buffer or any mods and is that a genuine hk A3 stock ? after I get my form 1 I want to do that ! and could you take a picture of the inside of the stock where the buffer and receiver meet ?Thanks Ray

The Stocks have a special collapsible buffer rod and spring set up in them. This is a modification from Vector that you must have done for you to be able to put an A3 stock on the weapon. -Joe
