How come it's hard as hen's teeff to find RRA 1911's and they are backordered 3 months?  Are they as good as people have been saying?

Small company and few workers.
Good guns but not enough put out .
That keeps demand high.
Kind of like Colt M4 uppers right now.

Lately I have seen Rock Island Armory M1911's advert in SGN........who is stealing their fine name??  The Dealers Warehouse and Sarco has them listed.

The Rock Island Armory 1911's go for about $285 in Shotgun news!  If the damn thing fires, that's a hell of a deal.

Actually, there was someone on the AK-47.net boards that bought 6 of them, and loved them!  Hard to beat for that price!

Do parts interchange with USGI parts?

Yes! Have tried various Colt, Springfield, GI parts and so far so good.

Slide is CNC'd real nice, frame is cast then machined. A few other parts are casst and machine, but all very nicely done. Very nice finish and shoots real good. Will have to break it in more, before I decide if I need to replace some of the trigger component for a smoother trigger pull. Slide to frame fit is real nice, very little to no play in the three RIA .45s that I have checked out.

Pistol is definitely worth the price. Thinking about getting some more for some project 1911s.

I think I may just get a Rock Island Armory 1911 receiver for my Mech Tech Carbine Conversion Unit.  Then I could keep my Colt 1911 in one piece!  I think I was the RIA receivers for $150ish.
