I have looked at Medco and Segal for Rim Locks. Are there any other mfg choices out there other than the cheapy big box store stuff?

You could look at Abloy, pricey stuff though.

Not sure if Medeco are still selling rimlocks but they sold they're own as well as Segal rimlock with a Medeco cylinder.  I'd invest in a plate to protect the cylinder.  Medeco has a real good one called the Tough Guard I think.

Check out Ebay, used Medeco rimlocks come up for sale from time to time.
