Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Removal of "black" on steel bolt

I have an SKS and M44 Hungarian that have black spots all over the "unfinished" bolt and/or carrier.

Can I do anything to get rid of these black spots?  (I guess you would call it tarnish)

get some steel wool and tarnish remover/polisher from Home Depot or Lowes.  Worked on my K31 bolt real well.
