Anyone ever heard of this? My father has a bolt action .222 rifle, marked "remington 722". Is this a production gun or something special?

fore runner to the 700. The 721 was the long action, the 722 short. I've got a 722 in .308.
Someday I plan to have it built into a long range gun.

What he said.

Very high quality guns. In fact, the 721 and 722 rifles were made out of the remaining stocks of WWll Ordinance Steel.

A friend of mine went shooting with me years ago and had a Remingtom 722 in .222 with him, it was a loaner from his father-in-law. It was EXTREMELY accurate and impressed the blazes out of me.

The 721,722 are basic in design to the 700. The 722/721 are hand built with care weapons. Not because the are custom but because the were built in a time when people gave a damn about what they did. Its is closer to a 700ADL.
GG BTW mine is 3006
