Gather up all the dirty, scuzzy, foam ear plugs (especially the smooth-surfaced orange ones that look like nipples) and put 'em in a little plastic mesh bag that small vegetables, garlic cloves, etc. come in from the grocery store.   Hang it with a wire tie under the top rack of the dishwasher and run it through with the next batch of dishes.  Use the "no heat" drying cycle.  They come out looking new.

Another method is to put them in a zippered pocket in your cargo shorts and wash/dry as usual.  I learned this by wonderful accident!

put them in with your whites in the laundry....they are color fast...they come out clean and sterile...if you use a bit of bleach.....

I don't use foamies except at work...and only when I have to...I prefer the rubber plugs....but after years of having them end up in the laundry I have found they come out in brand new shape

The dishwasher method works great for toothbrushes I find in people's garbage. I've saved a bundle.
