Installed it in about 12 minutes.  Simple installation process.  The rail is very stiff/tight feeling once all the screws were tightened down.  I don't know if the rail is lighter than the factory handguards but the gun feels a little less nose heavy now.  Definately easier to handle the weapon.  This is a really nice upgrade for these guns.  Thanks Samson Manufacturing.

Why did you choose flangeless?  I am looking at Samson's website and cannot see examples of both.

Pics please.

I was never a fan on the flange version. But a flange-less version would be pretty cool.

I'd like to see it please.

It isnt a perfect match for the upper  but its definitely not purple.. I need to get some better pictures of it up.  It is a really nice rail, I am considering picking up the full size for one of my other 556s.  And yes, I have KNS pins in all 3 of my guns... makes it much easier to break them down!

Thank you for the Review.

Wes you will not be disappointed.   It is not purple.   Our anodizing is Mil spec hardcoat. very black

We missed you at SHOT this year Wes.

Scott

Scott,

Any idea when that AR middy rail will ship that I ordered on the 7Th? Sent an email, but haven't received a reply as of yet...

Okay, serious question...can you remove the gas tube without taking the whole rail off?

Please forgive my ignorance, I have one of the pistols on order, what's the differences between the flanged and flangeless handguards?  Why is there a choice?

The 556 pistol that comes with the " fish gill " hand guards is equipped with an aluminum flange to adapt the cut down fishgills to the smaller pistol.  The samson flanged rail uses this flange, the flangeless requires you to remove it and mounts like a standard 556 rail.

Ahh thanks for the info.  Why the heck would anyone buy the flanged model?

Some people i guess dont want to remove the gas block and take the gun apart / cut the flange off?  Not sure really... I thought the same thing myself.
