So, if I decide later on to have my Garand rebarreled to 308,nothing else to change except for the addition of the receiver block?

I have a M1 Garand in .308, the only thing that was changed was the barrel. No other modifcations are needed.

Had my M1 Garand converted to use M14 mags with a 19 inch 7.62X51 NATO barrel and fitted to an M14 synthetic stock. Shoots great, my favorite rifle! Unfortunately the gunsmith who did the work passed away. I think West Texas Armory converts them but not sure if they do tnaker type.

CC charges $260 for a Med Douglas barrel installed.

The block is a nice touch to keep someone from trying to load 30-06, but not needed. I don't crimp hand loads, and never had a bullet walk or change in OAL yet.

If you do go with a block, and hand load, first firgure out the OAL seating depth of your favorite load to just kiss the lands, then mill the block down to allow the round to fit in the well/against the block (the real reason to go to 308 in the first place).
