Looking at a potential project, Grendel in the 572. Nothing groundbreaking by any stretch.

There are barrels out there, how hard is it to do myself, or is this a smith job?

Should add, very mechanical inclined, and have a good set of tools, but it's car stuff, most smith stuff I have done is polishing and putting together AR rifles.
