I found these today... at Sportsmans guide

Turns out the story below is not true, but my expert from this site says they work well, and are well made.

Wanna hear an odd, interesting M14 / M1A Mag surplus story?

OK... in 1968, the U.S. government sold its M14 rifle production machinery to Taiwan. So in 1969, Taiwan began making their Type 57 M14s, including magazines. Here they are, in individual wrappers, from American machinery. Made to original U.S. mil. specs, except matte blued-steel rather than Parkerized. Mags are new, but might show minor surface rust from long-term storage.

If they are blued, have no markings and are wrapped in brown paper, they are Taiwanese made.  Originally when these first came in country they were incorrectly identified as German made by one of our vendors.   (The Germans never used M14s.)  In contrast, the ChiCom M14 mags are parked, come oozing in cosmoline and are wrapped in wax paper.  Both are OK with a big nod to the ChiCom M14 mags but I will still take USGI mags over either.  Buy a few and use them for your range mags.  See the following link on bogus M14 mags:

Ammoman is not user friendly.  Have had bad time in dealing with him.  A kin to Todd at Special Weapons, I think.

Uh huh.

Ammoman is a great seller, and a stand-up guy to boot.  He guarantees ANY ammo or magazine he sells for 30 days.  You don't like it?  Return it to him within 30 days for a refund.

Lumping him in with Toad?  Wow.

$14 is hard to beat but I have never had a problem with AMMO MAN. He sent the case I bought post haste, and it was as described.
