My eyes are more than 50 years old, and don't do well with peep sights in hunting situations now. I love the way my FR-8 handles, and the accuracy is outstanding. So with info gleaned from here, I installed a XS scope mount and a Leupold Scout Scope.
To me, this is the best, fastest handling hunting rifle I have ever shouldered. The scope locks onto the target instantly, with virtually a 100% field of view due to the low magnification.
The glass is super sharp.
After a couple clips to get the sight dialed in, I was printing groups like I did when I could see. The light gathering of the scope should give me a few more minutes of hunting when it really gets good.
From a semi-rested position, I was printing 3" groups consistently centered in a 4" black (at 100 yds.). This is what I want my hunting rifle to do.
