I think the release will be pushed back several more times to avoid the initial problems they had with the M96. I am guessing there is something they can't get right, which is why the release keeps getting pushed back. They seem to lack complete technical know-how. They had grand ideas for a belt fed M96 as well as other calibers which were promised and pushed back which
have now been abandoned. I really don't understand whats going on with that guy and his company.
The M96 is an excellent weapon, I am a big fan....but not for nearly 2000.00. Thats almost 3 AR's.
The price of the XCR is also comparitively high...Its like he thinks if there is an alternative or equal of the AR people will buy them in droves, no matter what the price. The M96 would be a very competitive weapon if it were 1000.00 or under. With the exception of the very first ones, they are great guns. I think Robinsons future is dependant on the XCR's success. If it tanks, or fizzles like
the M96 did I doubt they would survive....this would be unfortunate, as its nice to have some diversity in the marketplace. The XCR doesn't appeal to me at all, especially with all the other possibilites which will/may be availible by the time its relased. Such as the FN 2000, FNC or Sig 55x. I don't want to have 1600.00 tied up in a DOA weapon from a failing company when these guns hit the market. I wish Robarm the best and I hope that the XCR is delivered soon and that it works as intended, that being said I am extremely skeptical.
It reminds me of Chinese Democracy....the ever elusive "new" Guns N Roses album which has been "coming" for 10 years now and when the release date arrives, we get a story not a CD, or in this case a rifle. You can only delay/disapoint people so much before they stop caring.
