Has anybody loaded this combination for an AR?

There is a very wide discrepancy between Hornadays 8th edition manual and Hodgdons 2013 manual.

start load for Hornaday is 23gr. with a max load of 25.3gr.

start load for Hodgdon 21.5 with a max load of 23.6gr.

The only real difference is w/ the primers; a SR primer for Hodgdon and a WSR for the Hornaday load? and 2" more barrel for the Hornaday.

Has anyone else ran across this?

IIRC, Hornady is on the 9th, and the max charge is around 24 gr for .223 pressure.

They also list a 5.56 pressure load, and with 8208 the max is 24.4 at a COL of 2.200".

I'll check when I get home, but I've seen a lot of descrepencies in load data. Pay attention to the listed COL as well.

Both C.O.L. are the same. IIRC

Like stated before primer's are the only difference. I would like to see the 9th edition data if possible.

I'm looking at the 9th edition and for the 60 gr v-max with 8208 xbr they have a start load of 23 and a max of 25.3 with a COAL of 2.250". I would go by what Hornady has published.

The Hornady 9th lists a different COL for 5.56 pressure and that is 2.200" and a max for IMR 8208 XBR of 24.4 gr. for 3000 FPS from a 20" Colt barrel.

The .223 data lists 25.3 gr (max) at 3000 FPS with a COL of 2.250", but keep in mind it is shot with a 24" in the .223 loads.
