Do you need some other form of a license in NY to get a pistol under a C&R status? I've asked several people and have got several answers.  Thanks in advance.

C&R handguns must be shipped to a dealer and you must have an active pistol permit and add that C&R pistol to your permit.  A C&R is of limited value in NY.

Not really because I still save $50 on the transfer fee for rifles.  I already got two and am working on a third rifle so I'm saving a decent amount.

NY is extremely anti gun, a socialist paradise.  When you add a pistol to your permit you have to have the county judge approve it even though you have been vetted and have an active permit.  There is no value to the law, it only serves to harass lawful gun owners.  NY views gun owners as criminals who just have not been caught yet.

So if the judge denies you could you then file a motion that they are violating your 2nd Amendment Rights since you are already approved at the federal level. Do they have to have  reason to deny, or and it be as simple as I don't like you.

The judge doesn't do the amendments in most counties, but it varies county to county. The judge can deny you a permit for any reason. Hell, the judge might not like the color of your shoes, and deny you for that. It's been that way since 1911. No permit? No handguns. Caught with a handgun and no permit? Felony. Caught with a pistol not listed on your permit by the county? Jail time. NY gun laws are so fucked up its not even funny. NY doesn't give a fuck about federal law. They don't follow it when it comes to guns, and nobody at the federal level gives a shit, because they agree with NY.

Ok, we're getting off topic, all that I wanted to know was why if you have a C&R can't you get handguns to your residence.  I know NY sucks, I live here.  And about filing a motion, go ahead and do that if you have the time and money but your wasting your time and your money.  I didn't want to turn this into a political discussion but once again here we are.

LOL, sorry. Didn't mean to get so far off track. The answer is no. You can't. All handguns must go to an 01 FFL.
