Sturdy Safe 3627-6 No-Fire

36w  27d  72h  875 pounds without fire protection

I'll update this post with more text and pictures - please IM me for any picture requests.

My requirements:
- Made in USA
- Good value for my hard earned money
- Ability to grab and go
- Primary objective of keeping people out, valuables in
- Ability to open door, keep radio on while door is open  (heat is not an issue given air pocket above radio)

I did not collect any pictures of the delivery.  The safe was secured on a pallet with metal bands, wrapped in plastic padding and shrink wrap.  Warranty is attached to the shrink wrap, Sturdy will inform you on where to find the combination.

This safe included two top shelves, three side shelves and the Easy Out Rack with a requested modification - no charge.  Many of my rifles have tall optics, when I described to Sturdy they said they could add to the rack, creating extra space between the safe wall and the barrel - In this case my request was 3+ inches between safe wall and barrel.  They did this for free.

Once positioned, I took a flat file and a round file to the interior edges of the safe door - Deburring all edges to my rounding standards, then covered with oil based Safety Green paint to create contrast as I have a habit of bumping into sharp edges and corners.  I spent and hour deburring all edges to my standards - I'm a former nuclear certified welder so I'm picky.

Their Six Fold design is very impressive, as good as the videos are they do not do it justice.

The Starting Line - 3/4 inch black pipe for rollers on top of 3/4 inch plywood for weight distribution and ease over carpet

Same safe I have.  I love mine.  Is it bolted down yet?

Four bolts to the wall studs - rental so the landlord does not want me to drill through the crappy carpet.  The wall has six inch studs as it use to be an exterior wall, five inch lags into those studs.  Wall will come down before the safe will move, luckily the room is only six feet by ten feet - has reloading bench and huge tool chest in there as well, so no room to breath let alone get leverage with a pry bar or swing a hammer.  Added an LED light from Lowes, spendy but sure is nice.

you could cut the carpet with a razor, mount down to the floor, upon leaving retrieve said crummy carpet and apply some adhesive... wonderful safe though, looks like you could fit a family in there!

Looks great.  Brings back an old dilemma for me:  Do I want capacity or accessability?  I can't afford both.  I'll have to keep saving the pennies I find under the front seat.

Why the green paint?

Since it has been asked multiple times, it must not be clear in my original post.

I took afile to the sheared edges and softened the edges to my standards.  Then I covered the edges with the Safety Green paint to prevent rust, create contrast - as i have a tendency to bump into sharp edges.

Can you give some detail on moving the safe?  I am about to move one myself usng rollers.  I am interested to know if you rotated the safe through the "chicane", or left the orientation of the safe the same and just pushed from a different side of the safe.  If the latter, how did you orient the pipesnear the corner?

I cut my pipes at 24 inches which work fine for straigh movement.  The safe mover had pipes about eight inches long and he used those to turn the safe by 90 degrees in place - it was more of a drag the safe across the short pipe that was spread out across the bottom of the safe.  The movement of the safe was forward, turn by 90 degrees, forward, turn by 90 degrees then forward again.

Your attention to detail is impressive Keigan. I'm also suprised how much room that 'easy out configuration' gives with a Sturdy safe of those dimensions. I have the 5 foot model of that safe and I'm constantly pulling out rifles & shotguns just to get to the one I need; if I get another, it will have that rack arrangement for sure.
