Is all subsonic .22 ammo lead only instead of copper jacketed, and if so, why?

All the stuff I've seen that's marketed as subsonic is lead only, and I would guess the reason is because at subsonic velocities, you don't have to worry about leading a barrel up. And it's cheaper to produce.

That said, supersonic is going to depend on barrel length.

This.

I shoot mini mags out of my ported integral 77/22 and 10/22.....all the others get cci subsonics....they are quieter.

Generally lead projectiles are for lower velocities.

Thanks all! I have my answer. The lead is just way dirtier bit the trade off for having the suppressor is more than worth it.
