I just acquired one in lieu of money owed to me.  I would like opinions of this pistol and what a fair price is.  I know the value of what was owed me and what they were asking for it.  I got it for what was owed me, which was a little bit less than what it was tagged for.

So far, I am not impressed.  The mag release seems flimsy and makeshift and the rails on the polymer lower seem awfully small.  I haven''t passed judgement yet, as I have yet to shoot it.

Well, everyone has their own opinions, take it out and shoot it and see what you think.  For me, I carry a USP 40 on duty every day, and I love it.  Never had a malfunction, shoots like a dream.  The mag release is not flimsy.  It may not be metal, but it will hold up to the abuse.  For a left hander like myself it is a very friendly gun (much more so than the glocks).  It aint a tack driver, but IMHO it is one of the best combat pistols out there.  As far as prices go, new fullsize are going for around 625 to 675 depending on the store.  Used, probably 525 to 550 depending on condition ( at least thats what I would want for mine).

I bought a stainless USP 40 on Monday for $655. The blued was priced to me for $615. Both were Variant 1.

I love my 1911's but when I need a gun to perform under any condition I will grab the HK. My USP45 is the one handgun that I would put my life on.  In my opinion, nothing else even comes close to the USP.

Larry,
that pistol in excellent condition is worth roughly $500 - a little more if in stainless.

I like the fact that H&K still uses a manual safety.  (Yes, I use a Glock for a night stand weapon but I won't carry anything that doesn't have a manual safety.)

Not sure why you think the mag release is flimsy. I have carried USPs on duty for several years. Excellent, accurate, and dependable guns.
