Heres the story...
PreSept94 Rifles are grandfathered in CT for transfer, however FN FAL is specifically on the ban list and is therefore not grandfathered. We can own DSAs and such, just no FN.
So, that being said, are there XPreban Non-FN FAL clones floating around anywhere? Who made them? About how many?
Is the L1A1 named? Entreprise made some makred that way that are pre-ban.
Here's the list... Springfield SAR48 is out.

I picked all of this info up from reading FALfiles.com/forums. Best source for FAL info on the net.
Can you have a DSA with evil features?
The SAR 4800 might work for you. They are pre-94 but post 89 import ban. They come with a thumbhole stock which presents some complications. In order to put them into a non-importable (read assault rifle) configuration, you need to add enough US parts to make them 922r compliant. That isn't too difficult though. Just buy an HTS set from DSA ($64), and a Penguin furniture set and a US flash hider and you're good to go.
The SAR4800 is a nice platform to work with as well. Because of its unusual legal status, they don't command the premium that the 48 does. They are still 100% Imbel made under FN contract and you should be able to find one for around $800 in very good shape.
Oh yeah... are you looking to make a folding stock model? If so, get the new DSA para kit which has a US made lower receiver, stock and bolt carrier. Then, put on the HTS set and pistol grip and you can leave the imported forend and use an imported muzzle device.
Thanks Cliffy, exactly the answers I was looking for.
1811, we can have evil features if the rifle is made before Sept94. We can't own it at all if it's on that list. So unless DSA made rifles prior to 1994, then no evil features.
Sounds like a SAR4800 with a parts kit is the cheapest way to go.
Any luck finding one yet?
So if you owned one of the listed firearms before the ban, did they confiscate it? How was that handled?
They were grandfathered. Rifle had to be registered when the law went into effect.
