I just got off the phone with Ben's wife at ClassicArms and grabbed one for around $93.00 shipped. I've heard nothing but the best about them and they're in the next state over, so I figured what the hell. I need a 91/30 at the moment anyway. They were out of round receiver hardwoods, but expect some more in a few days. I'd rather have a hex anyway.

Anyone got any pics of hex receiver Mosin Nagants, or any Classic Arms purchased Nagants in general?

UPDATE!

I ordered yesterday and it was delivered today at around 3pm. Looks like a 1927 Izzy M91/Dragoon. Wood is excellent, bore is excellent, all accessories, and it shoots like a dream. I was plugging water-filled milk jugs out to 80 yards with open sights using Bulgie light-ball surplus. Ben is definitely going to get more business!

Did it come with the bayo and all accessories? I've gotten some 91/30s in the past and the bayo didn't fit at all.

That's gorgeous though. Thanks!

Here is mine, I got it a month ago, I told Ben what I wanted and he spent 30 min. looking before he called me back, his over the phone description wasn't as good as what he sent.  I just didn't expect it to look this good when he said original bluing.  It is a 1935 Tula hex, it looks to have original bluing, all mathing no.s and a pristine bore, like my k-31.  The gun looks unissued with only a little wear on the buttplate from sitting in a rack, I can't believe it missed the war.

The bluing is original for a refurb.  The rectangle on the top of the barrel is a refurb mark.  Likely reblued some time in the 1970's or 80's in the Ukraine.

Nice rifle.  I own several.  The stock is pre WWII also.  You can tell by the brass inserts around the holes for the sling.  I don't know if the barrel is original or not.  Just shoot it and enjoy.  These are great rifles.  Russian equivalent of 30-06 round, but the 7.62 x 54r predated the 30-06 by about 15 years.  If you use milsurp ammo be advised it leaved a salt residue in the barrel.  This attracts water.  You must clean the rifle after shooting.  To clean, just pour some hot water down the barrel from the breech and then clean as normal.  I prefer Hoppe's No 9 Nitro Powder solvent for my milsurps.

My 1943 Tula built using a 1935 Tula hex receiver.  I've refinished the stock using Minwax walnut stain and semi-gloss spray poly.

Just picked up a 1928 Hex 91/30 ex-Dragoon. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet (couldn't slip away to shoot it yesterday)

I'll post some pics tonight, provided I can get enough light in this crappy weather.

My latest 91/30 (ex-dragoon)

Oh, and my idiot dog. Probably wondering how she can get to it to chew up the stock....

Local surplus store got one in.

The kid at the counter offered to check what they had in the back, too but I told him that wouldn't be necessary. I'll take this one.

That dang dog will destroy anything I let her get too close to.
