Noticed the other day that my POA vs POI from a rest, changed when I went from a rest to  a sitting position.
Taking away the solid hold and switching to "real world conditions" changed my POI by about 2" or so at 40 yards. It may be me but anyone else found that this was true with their  results?

Is this consistent ?

Could have something to do with cheek weld slightly changing (if it is a rifle you are shooting).

Pretty consistent.
I am thinking it may be my hold technique with the rifle.
Adjusted my scope to the right and was back on target. Just thought that it was odd that the POI would change from using my rest to a free hold.
Have found that just holding the rifle in different spots on the front of the stock can change where I am hitting on the target also.

Cheek weld could possibly be doing it. I am going to work on that area this evening and see how it goes.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Yep. That's pretty much been my experience too. When I shoot airguns off a rest, I put my hand on top of the bag and rest the gun on my hand.

Are you shooting a spring gun or a PCP, or other pneumatic?  With the spring gun, any slight change in hold will drastically move the point of impact.  With PCPs this is less of a problem.  However, even with a PCP, there is a hammer that moves creating a bit of recoil well before the pellet is out of the barrel.  A different amount of resistance to the recoil by your body due to position change can create different dynamics of the rifles behavior before the pellet exits.  Ergo, the pellet will go in a different direction.

Thanks Blade!
Good to know that I am not the only one!
Next time I try to zero a scope with an air rifle, I will try what you do and see how it turns out.

Nitro Piston.
It does seem that with this rifle, hold technique is very important.

Will add also, body "english" is important.

Good advice!
