For target use. I am looking for a nice 180 grain. Either hollow of RNFP. I ordered some gold dot hollows. Some Sierra RN.. But those were around 25 -30 bucks for 100. I'd like something cheaper just to hear the gun go off.  I am looking for what you like brand specific and why
Thanks!

I'm just finishing my first 1k box of berrys 155gr HBRN. Fed great through my 2 Glocks and hk.

Next I'm trying 155gr FP.

PV has them in stock this week.

I love Berry's 180 GR RN, only problem is they temporary discontinued them

I noticed that Berrys suspended their 40s.   Xtremebullets has some and I've order from them before.   Not bad for plated but I have no experience with their HP, which is what I ordered.

<second snip> OP edited his post. No problem there, please let it go.

Don't know why you didn't follow my suggestion. Please use the "where to find" thread.

<snip>dryflash3 Every now and then they will get blemished bullets. They were .15/bullet shipped last time I bought them. Out of 500 bullets only about 3-4 were bad and unusable.

Shoot Lead

Missouri Bullet Company

If all you want is for it to go bang and put a hole through the target there is nothing wrong with shooting lead.

I shoot the Missouri Bullet .401 180 gr TCFP with Ramshot Silhouette Powder. It makes for one sweet shooting round.

I realize that names like hornady, Sierra, Berrys, can be found at popular places like grafs, midsouth, cabelas, etc.

If there are bullets manufacturers that are less common, I would like to know where they are found.   But more specifically what people like and why.

+1 for Xtremebullets!  I normally shoot lead, but when I don't, I shoot Xtreme 180gr RNFPs.

Rmr has 180gr plated in stock. They are heavy plated, almost as thick as jacketed. Good bullets.
$250 shipped for 2k.

Xtreme makes a good 180 gr 40, plus they are available now.

I called xtreme today and was told that their HP were sought after for competition.   Said they group well..  I'll try them out.

180gr Rainiers have given stellar accuracy in my Glock 23.

+1 for Montana Gold.  I like the fact that I can use them for cheaper plinker rounds and just switch to Sierra or Nosler for defense rounds and use the same load.  I tested all three with the same load, but the ability to do that depends on many things.

I've had great luck with Precision Delta.  Their .40 180gr FMJ FN are $130 per 1k. (free shipping too).  I've loaded about 750 of them with no issues what so ever.  I just rec'd another 2k a couple weeks ago.  I'm set on .40 for a while now.  If you're looking to buy in bulk, these are great bullets.  They are slightly more expensive than the plated bullets (X-treme, Berry's, and Rainer) but they are a true FMJ.  With the speeds of the .40 it is not a huge concern, but the jacketed bullets are a little easier to reload in my opinion.

I'm very happy with the Ranier 165 grains I got when I bought my press second-hand.  Shot through about 250 of them in a Beretta 96.  Took a lot of reading but was able to work up a load fairly easily and haven't had to fuss with it..  Using HP-38 and HS-6 with the latter being my slight favorite for the .40...

Also shooting 9mm RMRs (also shot about 250).  Reason I mention this is they have free shipping and I like them as much as the Raniers.

For .40s, I would go with either one.  I like the plateds for what I currently do (pushing holes in paper at the indoor range) and probably will continue running them until my shooting exceeds their capabilities.

I expect that to be a loooong time..

When I fist got my 10mm I went through about 5,000 155gr Raniers they worked great and were cheap($42/500 around 1999-2000) Once the price started going I switched to lead. I have no need for anything but lead for the range.

I got my hands on some Powerbond plated bullets. They have been very accurate in my Glock 23's and Sig 226.
