I found this in my box of misc. mags. I actually forgot I had it. It's left over from my days of wasting time on a Hesse 91.

The magazine appears to be of good quality and holds 30 rounds. It's got a blued follower. The real HK 30-rounders I've seen look like two twenties welded together. This is a one piece tube. Also, the USA or Pro Mag or whoever US magazines that I've seen don't have the little circles stamped into the metal at the top of the mag.

South African maybe?

Edited to add that this thing will look SWEET in my V-51 when I get it!

I've got 9 of them, no markings at all. Mine are definitely surplused as they have/had a little surface rust and handleing marks on them. Someone here at one time said they maybe Iranian contract. I thought the same thing, they'll look awesome in a V51.

Anybody know where I can get some more? I have no desire to pay $100 for a real HK one.

I don't believe the welded together ones are real HK (other than being made from real HK 20 rounders), but they do work.

the welded ones are RDTS converted mags. I believe those were made from two 20rd mags(?)

That is a South African magazine.

They are well built but the springs are hit or miss.

As there doesn't appear to be any replacement springs available, I have two that are basically useless.

You can get them for 39.95 at www.whatacountry.com

I also think it's a So. African made mag.

I have several of these; Pic 1, Pic 2 They are supposedly Iranian contract mags from the early 70's. Very well made and work 100%.

Osprey,

Notice that your magazine has a slight angle to it and mine is plum straight. Yours is the kind I have seen being sold as a real HK 30-rounder with the little overlapping area of metal that looks like a weld seam. Mine does not have this overlapping area in the middle of the magazine body.

Mine are exactly the same as Melvins, no seam, no angle.

MJ's example looks to be in better shape than mine.

CIB,

Bead blast 'em and throw on a coat of Duracoat and they'll look as good as new.

John Norrell is'nt too far from me, I'm gonna have him Moly Resin them a nice dark park grey like the original steel 20 rdrs. He just charges $6 ea. to soak, blast, and refinish.
