I want a Glock !
I want an XD !

How do I decide on just one?
.40 or .45 ?

All this recent Glock talk has me thinking.

XD is just as good for less money and has the advantage of a standard grip angle and the grip safety to make it harder to shoot yourself.  Id get the 9mm and load it with 147 grain Winchester Ranger.

Once again folks, when somebody asks you A or B, don't offer C unless they are asking for other options...

Try to shoot both guns.  Choose the one that fits your hand the most comfortably.  What works for one person might not work for the next.  On the third gen. Glocks the finger grooves fit my hand perfectly.  But I've heard plenty of people complain about them.  There is a perfect gun out there for everyone.  You just need to shoot both and find out for yourself.

I've shot both quite extensively, get the XD.

Get the XD4o if your going to get a 40 or 357. I hope they come out with one in 45cal. I own a G19C and love it. I have also shot the XD40 and think it is just has good and fits my hand a little better. Has far has safeties go to me I couldn't give a crap if it was made with only the trigger safety. I say safety is in the hand of the holder.

The XD appears to be just as well made as the Glock, for less money, with better features FOR ME.

I vastly prefer the grip on the XD, and the trigger is much better on an XD than it is on a Glock, even with a 3.5 lb. disconnector in a Glock.

And yes, I think that the grip safety is a good idea, whether it really serves a purpose or not, it makes me feel better.

I don't think Glocks are bad guns, far from it, but I personally prefer the XD if you want to go combat tupperware.

It's a personal choice, but the XD points better for me. Also those nice .40 S&W mags hold 14 rounds of 9mm and run great for only $25.

from what I have read the XD is an excellent gun, I have been a Glock owner for years and love all of my Glocks. There is one thing you should consider, there are plenty of Hi Caps avail for Glocks, you cant get them for the XD, at least I dont think you can.
Enjoy either way you will do good.

I have owned a Sig 2340, a Glock 35, and now, an XD-40. The Sig was traded for the Glock which was traded for the XD. The XD is going to the range and back. Not to the gun shop for trade. SA is supposed to bring out the XD45 in mid year. My Ruger P90 will go to the gun shop as a trade on the XD45.
The wife owns a Glock 22C. These new handgunners amaze me.

Actually Beretta M9 mags as well as S&W and others work in an XD9.  There are more high caps for the XD9 than any other 9mm in the world because of this.  Also as stated earlier you can put 14 rounds of 9mm in a postban XD 40 magazine.

I have both.  I tried to put a Beretta mag in my XD and it wouldn't fit.  Maybe its just mine.
Anyway, they are both fine guns. But they are not the same.  If possible, try to shoot both and then decide which one to get "first".

You have to square off the bottom of the mag catch with a file from this:

Bottom [     O ]Top

to this:

Bottom [     D ]Top

It is all explained on the HS2000 forums in great detail.  It will still work in the Beretta after the mod.

I have several Glocks, and I have an XD also.

I prefer the XD over my Glocks. I like the extra features, feels better in my hand, I shoot it better than any of my Glocks. My XD is very accurate & really tight groupings.

I have both in 9mm and I can honestly say...

get one of each.

But seriously, both have performed flawlessly for me, but what they're saying about the XD grip angle and pointability is true. It does feel good in my hand. My G19 is a 2nd generation so it doesn't have the finger grooves. I don't like the finger grooves. Shoot both before you buy and get the one that conks you on the head and says, "BUY ME!"

When trying to decide between A or B, I usually put in the over time to get both A and B. That is, if I can do both for under 1k. I already have the Glocks but have a NIB HS2000 on hold. If you get the XD, go for the Asian contract or quality after market mags for the conversion. They'll work just fine, and you won't damage those fine USA/Italian factory mags. Plus, they are a lot cheaper than the factory mags. You'll be pleased with either one. Enjoy.

Here is what I wrote over on the HS2000 & XD forum.

"I am a dyed in the wool 1911 guy. I have always hated Glocks on the basis of it being the UGLIEST gun ever made. It also has no style or soul. I have seen and shot almost every auto pistol out there and none except my beloved 1911s has ever grabbed my fancy.

Soooo.......what is it about these HS2000s and XDs
that has so quickly found not only a place on my hip but a place in my heart? I have noticed that everyone that fires them not only likes them they love em. I and many others I know have fallen very quickly for this gun. What is it about this pistol?"

If you want a .45 ACP consider a 1911 variant

For a .40 S&W or a 9mm you won't go wrong with the XD or Glock

I have a couple 9mm Glocks but I'd like to get a new XD in .40S&W or .357SIG

XD is a innovative & fairly priced pistol

Saw the "mini-XD" on the SA website.  I was considering getting a Glock 26, but have seriously decided to seek out the XD when it comes out in January.  I especially like the new light that they are coming out with as well.  I wonder if they will also offer in the bimetal version.  Any thoughts on the "mini"?
