My son added a Terry Dyer HK51 with a Flemming Sear to our family LLC.

Can't wait to shoot it.

My two sons test fired it prior to the sale at an indoor range and said there was little recoil but a lot of flame.

A .308 Vortex or Blackout would help with that.

(unless you really like flame...)

I have shot about 500 rounds through an HK like that. Tons of fun. There is a pretty decent recoil, but definately not what you would expect from a short .308.

Sure you'll have tons of fun with that. Hope you have tons of .308 to go with...

What you need now is a german training bolt, so you can shoot that cheap as dirt blue training ammo. That stuff is fun!!!! I've been playing with mine and the training rounds. Good to 50-75 yards, can hit soda bottles no problem, and when new shooters want to try out their first full auto, its only .60 a mag dumb.

Did you get that instate? By chance a guy out by west chester? I know there was one out there, I saw it when I picked up my shrike.

Congrats on the new toy,

Looks just like mine, although mine came out of Volmers shop so I cant say if it was done by Dyer or one of the other smiths there over the years

Even after all these years it is still probably my favorite machineguns.

The concussion and fireabll is the worst/best part (depending upon your perspective), especially with the Volmer ported muzzle thingy attached on the end instead of a normal flash hider.

Overall, I wouldnt say the actual recoil is all that bad if you know how to shoot it and use a decent stance/form.

I use a G3 .22 cal kit in my 51 and it runs like a sewing machine. I have one of the American 180 drum adapters for it.
