Yeah, that's not right. Did you try a new battery? Yeah, I know - obvious. Also, make sure the intensity is dialed all the way up on the switch or on the side buttons. Sucks if you got a lemon. You'll know if it's working right, the illuminator is kick ass and the pointer is actually a bit too bright even in the lowest setting.

Perst 4 arrived today, ordered Janurary 13th, ordered off eBay payed for the “Standard” shipping. Initial thoughts on fit and finish are nice.

This happened with mine as well

My Photonis tubes are around 2050 FOM.   They're nice, and are worlds better than the OMNI IV contract tube in my PVS14, but I expect I'll make the jump to L3 tubes eventually.

i really love how the perst has shut up the BE meyers fan bois. I remember posting one of the first social media photos of my perst 3 and one of the owners from BE meyers commented, saying it looks like a pos and is nothing like a Mawl. Now whose feeling the market shift?

can someone tell me or link me to somewhere that explains the differences between the perst models? I see the 3 is around $1200, but the 4 is very affordable.

4 doesn’t have an Illuminator.

PERST-1 IR laser only
PERST-2 IR/VIS laser plus illuminator (18650 battery)
PERST-3 IR/VIS laser plus illuminator (cr123)
PERST-4 IR/VIS laser only (cr123)

Perst 2 has a built-in flashlight too.

There is also a power difference. Perst 2 is blow the moon up level.

Is that going on an AR-15?   I haven't seen a good photo of how far that sticks out compared to a scout light.

I wonder if the Illuminator on the 2 is that much better than the 3 that it’s worth the extra cash

It might end up on one.  My first effort is going to be to try mounting it on an AK though.

The light is about the same size as an insight m3(or pretty much any other pistol light/laser.) The mount is about the same length as the light and drops the light about the thickness of the mount.

Hope it helps. I'll post pics when I get a mounting solution figured out.

I was shining it on a tree that's at least 100 yards away and it still had the Halo around the dot.

The illuminator is like a good flashlight with a solid bright spot and plenty of spill.

I'm happy with the light/laser, now I just need to figure out how to get it stuck on a rifle.

For my first attempt, it's going on a 45° rail mounted on the very front on the right side of an ultimak tube on an AK.

Are the perst units a lot "flatter" than these?

I should have my 45° mount tomorrow, so I'll try to get a pic up once I get it mounted.  My goal is to tuck it between the gas block and fsb as much as possible while not having the illuminator obstructed by the fsb.

Yea, the other units in the line are traditional looking LAM’s.

I made a quick video comparing a MAWL, DBAL D2 and Perst 2.  It is in my backyard so only 25y with a lot of ambient light from street lights.  The Perst illuminator can basically be focused down to the same size as the laser making it quite versatile.  I'll try to get to the range soon to compare at 100y.

I agree. But unless you know about this thread or a few social media guys to follow, you wouldn't know about the PERST stuff.

Size is great, but it is a bit “squishy”. I wish it was more positive like the top button.

Ordered a Perst-4 a couple days before I went to survival school, was really hoping I would have it in hand by now, especially with expedited shipping, but last update I've got is it's been processed through PCI 7 in Moscow as of 19Jan

It did not seem to be any more powerful than the MAWL and OTAL-C I had with me. Not sure if it was the conditions or if it was somehow the battery. I was getting ready for a business trip and didn't have access so will have to try it this week and post pictures.

Mine's been showing as having left there since the 10th.  I'm a bit miffed about having paid for the expedited shipping as well, but it is within the projected delivery window.  The soonest mine might arrive is Wednesday but realistically I'm expecting the furthest out at this point.  My package from Bulgaria is MIA as well for over 50 days.  Probably lost at this point or US Customs hates me.

Expedited shipping doesn’t kick in until it reaches the states. The post office then sends it via priority mail express (overnight) after it clears the customs facility. Everything up till that point is the same.

Ok. I had some time to fiddle with this klesh-2/ak situation.

It will work as is, but I'm going to try to find a way to get the klesh mounted closer to the barrel. I'd prefer a z-bar type rail(if one exists) to replace the mount that came with the klesh.
