When starting out reloading for pistol, I looked for one powder that I could use across the multiple calibers that I shoot (9mm, .40 S&W and .38/.357) and tried IMR 4756.  So far, I've been satisfied... it's done what I wanted (for basically plinking).  It's accurate, not dirty...  I've never really pushed max loads with it.  Now, I'm about to start for .45 ACP - and I'm finding loads using IMR 4756 for that too.

I know there are many other powders I could be using for the above calibers...  but what are others' experiences with IMR 4756?  Am I really missing out by using it instead of something else, or should I continue down this path?

It is - it seems to measure consistently through my RCBS Uniflow...  Fills up a 9mm / 40 enough so that you'd be hard pressed to double charge.

I kinda feel like I'm missing out by not trying all of the other powders others are using, but on the other hand - like you said - it works so I'll likely keep on using it (and test it out in .45).

Riclaut,   I've been using this powder for nearly 30 years, mainly for .38/.357 loads, and it is a great powder below maximum loads.  Pressure spikes can get severe near top loads.

Velocity is also however incredible, why I can't give it up!  45 ACP works very well with it.

It is an excellent powder for magnum 20Ga shotshells too!

Good to know - thanks!

Another option is True Blue. Works great in 9mm, and 45 ACP. I don't load 40, but plenty of loads are listed.

True Blue is a great measuring ball powder.

I put it on my list to try when I'm ready to try some new powders.  Thanks!

I use it in 357sig and 45acp. It works well in 9mm and .40S&W.

It's not my go to powder but it certainly is a good powder.
