Troy is right on as usual:

Its my understanding the actual gun used was an M21 accurized M14

Hey Lumpy-Where do ya get such niiiiice photos.I've been looking for that one and couldn't find it.

I'm looking to install a lit-reticle scope on my std. but still trying to make up my mind as to which scope to use.I just want something compact and durable.

I think I found what I'm looking for now.

In the book it just says that one of the operators (sorry cant remember the name) used an "old M14".

Im not worried what he had in real life. just in the movie. I paused it did all the stuuf to see it and it looks like a special mount to me. I did not look like anything was blocking the ejection area.

ummmm... it was a movie.

are you trying to re-create what they showed in the movie? Or what was used in real life?

There is no reason to believe or even think that the movie was an accurate representation of what MSG Gordon and SFC Shugart were actually carrying.

Other documentation leads me to believe that the configuration of the weapons depicted by those characters in the movie is flawed. e.g. read the new book by Michael Durant - SFC Shugart's M-16 wasn't suppressed in real life but it was in the movie.

I want to mke the one in the movie. I dont even a clue if there even was a guy with an M14. Yesterday, I bought another PB M1A, $1320. I going to paint the stock and order the stuff tommorrow.

Go for it. Its a perfectly functional set up. Once I get done funding my 2 in progress AR projects, thats whats up next for me. Not because of the movie, but because I live in the desert, and I love Aimpoints and M1As
