That Tavor is made in Ukraine by RPC Fort. From my understanding they're in 5.45x39 and used by Special Forces in Ukraine.

Always wanted the 5.45 Tavor.  Preordered the Tavor just for that purpose.  Backed out after the initial delays & the announcement that they weren't doing it in 5.45.  In 556 I was not enough impressed to add it in addition to my other 556s & preferred my AUG.  Would rather have a second AUG than a AUG & Tavor.  Now if they could bring out some rifle caliber kits for the AUG like in 5.45, 6.5 & 6.8 that would be fantastic.  Or hell even a 6.8 kit for the Tavor I would consider it again.

After approximately 3 years of lusting after a Tavor I treated myself to a little Christmas present and got a sweet deal ($1225) on a new to me SAR 16 in the left-handed configuration. Like most of you, I love this gun. I'd like to say that waiting those 3 years, while tough to do, has allowed the manufacturers of aftermarket parts and accessories to fill in some of the necessary voids on this firearm. It's weird, love the gun but see some areas that need immediate improvement. I already ordered a Manticore buttpad and some Luma Safeties. Going to upgrade the charging handle eventually. Handguard and optics will be next. Thinking all the new accessories will be flat dark earth, as I like the contrast to the black. Like I said, it's weird having got this gun and then immediately dropping a few hundred $ in upgrades, but hell, she is worth it. Here are my two southpaw bullpups in the snow that has shut down Atlanta this weekend. Laugh away, Yankees.

Vinyl wrap from eBay for cheap. I did a terrible job as I always do but it'll stay on there for awhile.

-Standard black KSG with KT sling. (Basic but it works)
-Folding polymer BUIS from Mission First Tactical. (Not sure how I feel about these. But they're adequate).
-OD Magpul AFG2
-Foliage Magpul ladder covers for some color.
-A sweet homemade cheek rest made from a $1 Walgreens Halloween koozie and some Gorilla brand tape.

This thing is .22 quiet with privi 158 grain.

AUG 9mm
Trijicon TA-44
Steiner OTAL-C IR laser - works wonderfully. It is offset enough to easily clear the charging handle and sling.
Surefire Scout light with a vampire head.
Blueforce Gear sling (vickers?)
Silencerco Octane 45 HD

My 9mm brother, from another mother. :D Don't see too many 9mm kits/AUGs around. Had my barrel threaded last year in anticipation of my suppressor coming in. Going on 7 months now. Can't wait to try the same Privi ammo in mine.

My AUG A3 CQC with the Hera Arms CQR foregrip mounted. Just got the foregrip on Saturday and it's perfect for the AUG. I love the way it feels, love the way it looks, and love that it has the sling swivel cups at the front so it moves the front of the sling down away from the charging handle and sight line. It also makes the AUG balance much better while slung.

With my other rifles.

You'll love it when you get it. I've shot several 5.56mm chambered rifles and the AUG is my favorite. Tough as nails, reliable, finely built, reasonably accurate for a combat weapon, comfortable, slightly exotic, and has an enviable and well earned track record in combat. Not to mention probably the best magazines in the world for a 5.56mm rifle. I'll take my AUG over any 5.56mm rifle.

Future plans are either TA-33/flip up BUIS or leave the fixed irons and get an Aimpoint

Finally was able to track down a rail for my FS2000. It's going to be getting a bit more range time now, much more comfortable to shoot having a VFG on it.

Pin and welded my muzzle device so I could use the thin butt pad (the way God intended).  Also swapped out the long handguard and top rail to the shorter version.  Rifle is around half a pound lighter.  Gotta get a optic on it.

What colors, especially the tan/brown did you use?

I'm tempted to paint my beater AUG like this. The stock and stuff is already green. But maybe I'd paint the recevier, barrel and optic housing for giggles.

thanks

Nice. I'm going to get mine pinned and welded soon just got the slim buttpad in the mail today. Keeping the stock foregrip and rail though. I wish IWI would sell barrel and bolt matched set for the x95 like they do the sar if they did I would have gone that route rather than welding. Oh well they never responded with more than a robo email about which distributors sell Tavors when I emailed them a few times or sent a Facebook message to IWI so the cheaper option will have to do for now.

Chopped to the 15 inch CTAR length and pinned AAC Brakeout 2.0... love the AAC Blastout as it really mitigates the concussion. Recoil is a bit more with it on, but dig it...

Shoots great...

Nah, man, runs 100 percent. Honestly, most companies I have dealt with will say that, but cutting an 1.5 inches off the barrel isn't really going to effect the dwell time enough in my opinion. Runs with both .223 and 5.56 (M193 and M855). If you cut one of the longer 18.5 inch barrel down, then you might have to tinker with the gas port.

Otherwise chopping a 16.5 down to 15 should cause you no issues what so ever suppressed or unsuppressed.
