My 43 SA M1 has a wierd looking safety on it compared to all the other Garands I have seen over the years, instead of the usual square button with the hole in it, mine has a thin safety lever that comes out away from the trigger guard at about a 45 degree angle when in the off safe position. I can't see any markings on it like my Winchester has the usual WRA or SA markings, could this be some type of winter safety lever?

As noted, winter safety. Kinda scarce. I'd replace with a standard, as the standard is less likely to be accidentally disengaged.
