This may seem a little silly but our local police Spec ops unit picked up an M16A1 after a sticky fire-fight recently. Its pretty old and every thing's standard A1 stuff except the pistol grip....and this is what intrigues me.
It is contoured in a very curvy fashion  ...rather like a revolver... or say the Vz 58...if you know what I mean. It is in  standard black nylonite but has flowery patterns on the upper extermeties...
Is this something that Colt has any thing to do with?

That actually sounds like a Norinco pistol grip.
