Hey all,

I'm sending in my recently acquired BNVD-Gs to Night Vision Depot to have them take a look at problem I'm having.

It turned off once or twice during the first hour when the muzzle flash from a rifle shut the unit off. I just thought it was the autogating being sensitive until it started to get progressively more sensitive.

Eventually just tapping or moving the unit should shut them off and you had to tap them again to turn them back on. All the while I could still hear the autogating buzzing away Some times you have to tap on it quite a few times to get them to turn back on.

This happens in absolute darkness and higher light environments. I've changed batteries multiple times so it's not that. I've also checked the tightness of the battery cap.

I have an RMA from NVD and they're going back tomorrow but I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and if anyone knows a potential solution?

Thanks

ETA: These are an older set of BNVD's from NVD. Also I'm working with the seller on this so hopefully we can figure out a solution

Probably a loose tube or a issue in the battery compartment. NVD should fix it without much fanfare. Seems like a simple issue to diagnose once they have it in hand.

That's good to hear. Hopefully it can be fixed for relatively cheap. Finally got back into a dual tube setup and this happens

The fact you can tap on it and it comes on tells me a connection is loose. Should be a easy fix.

Sweet. I'm still expecting the worse but hoping for the best.

I'll update on here when I hear back from NVD. I've never dealt with their CS so at the least it'll be nice to document that for those with out of warranty issues.

It should be there Thursday or Friday and they're expecting a 5-7 day time period for getting a full eval back to me.

Dealt with NV Depot on many occasions. Competent folks work for them and they are easy to deal with. They will get you fixed up at a fair price.

Great to hear. I've been speaking with Tim and he's been more than helpful so far!

Hey all!

Night Vision Depot ended up covering the cost of the repair (plus purge, clean, testing, etc) even though the unit is over 5 years old and I was not the original purchaser! They promptly shipped the unit back (packaged very well in bubble wrap) and it arrived yesterday!

Absolutely fantastic customer service! NVD rocks!
