18 days mail box to door.

Havn't ordered any CMP M1's for about 4-5 years, since it was looking like they were into a better batch of Greeks I decided to order two SG's. Recieved 2 very nice condition 5.4 mil SA's, excellent GI stock sets that didn't go through the " Parts Washer " one has SA stock the other HRA, both have like new HRA trigger groups, one has HRA bolt other a greek matte blued postwar SA. Overall probably the two best looking SG's I've ever got from the CMP and over the years I've ordered quite a of them.

Pics will have to wait for cleaning.

They were pretty greasy, tearing into them and getting them cleaned up was more important than in the box pics...

I have a question.  If you bought two why not an sa and a hra?  Probability has it you would have gotten mixed parts that would have allowed you to possibly make at least one correct rifle..

I havn't ordered any SA's for awhile and didn't have a 5.8 mil yet ( was kinda hoping to get atleast one  5.8 mil, I should have put a request on my order but o well ). Friend picked up a HRA at Perry this year at Nationals and I swapped trigger groups with him for the top rifle which is a late 5,479,xxx serial

I already have 13 HRA's that cover all the serial blocks but for a 4.66 mil.

any particular reason for wanting a 5.8 mil?

I agree that the SG's now are some of the best I've seen.  I don't regret ordering my yearly limit all in one shot.  8 SG SA's and 4 SG HRA's.  As soon as I can order another 12 I'm probably gonna go ahead and do it.

Just to have a post war SA  from serial range 4.2, 4.3, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.7, 5.8, 5.9, 6.0 mil . I still need a 4.2, 5.2, 5.7 & 5.8 the odds of getting a 4.2, 5.2, 5.7 from the CMP luck of the draw or request is slim to none but they are flush with 5.8's with all the Greek returns....

There have been a number of 4.2's on the various Garand boards the past couple of weeks for sale - I know of at least 2 or so right now if you are in the market for one.  I get this one delivered next week - it ain't for sale :)

SA 4.2 JLG

As I understand it, the CMP is probably putting up for auction any 4.2's they come accross these days.

In fact, if you are looking there is a correct SA 4.2 and a correct SA 5.8 on the board I linked to above for sale right now.  The 5.8 coming from the same fellow I'm getting that 4.2 above from.

I wish my wife would fall for this one... she thinks I'm crazy for having 2 Garands and the only way I've convinced her that I can have them both is because one is SA and the other HRA! But if I could convince her that getting one from different serial number ranges is fine then I'd be all set As is, she gives me the "why do you need 2 of the same gun for?" Basically what I'm getting at here is jealousy... and jealous of a couple posters above who got 12 this year

You could allways tell her about the Winchester and the IHC...then there are wartime and post war, then there are rebuilds and non-rebuilds, hell - tell here there are 4 different variations of receivers just in IHC garands alone!  Or you could be like me and thow it in the safe and not say a damn thing and hope she doesn't wonder how when I had no M1's 3 months ago now I have 9 (and am perpetually broke)?  Shhh....anyone tells her that and you become my Garand target!

Very nice. Looks I'm going to have get another HRA here shortly and maybe another SA after Christmas. Hopefully I can convince my dad to make the drive to Anniston this week and handpick an HRA. Damn I hate pictures. Just when I think I've gotten the GRD under control I see these.
