All right guys as my LRB M25 build has been nearing completion I have been unable to stop thinking about getting a can for it.
I have always liked and read good things about AAC cans so I have decided to go with the AAC 762 SD.  I like the fact that I can use it on multiple guns.  I am primarily buying it to use on my M14 but it might see minimal use on my AR and AK.

Also since Im going to go thru the hassle with the ATF I was thinking that I should pick up a .22 can wile Im at it and kill two birds with one stone.  For the .22 can Im thinking about going with the AAC prodigy.
This will be a once in a lifetime purchase for me so I want to go with the best that money can buy.

My question to you guys is what do you think about these two choices?  Are these the best of the best?  Can I do better?  What would you pick for your ultimate Q/D centerfire and .22 cans?

If it is going to be a 1 time purchase, look for a 22 suppressor that is rated for more than 1 caliber.  I dont know about the prodigy but the SWR Spectre, SilencerCo Sparrow, are rated up to 5.7x28 while the Liberty Kodiak is rated up to 22 hornet. I know the ACC Element is rated for all rimfire but I dont know about the 5.7x28 though.

You might want to wait till after SHOT show to buy anything.  AAC will be releasing the 762 SDN-6.  It is a shorter .30 can with new tech. baffles that is supposed to be quieter than the 762 SD.  Uses the same mounts too.  It will handle anything .308 Win and down.  Looks to a great can!  Do more research on the Prodigy before you buy...  Take a hard look at SWR Specter and the Silencer Co Sparrow (SS core).  The latter being my pick.

Yeah it will defiantly be after shot before I will be able to do anything probably closer to late Jan or early Feb.  I have to get my LRB first and if Im lucky ill get by the end of the month if not it should be ready the first part of Jan.

As far as .22 cans are concerned Im not concerned about multiple calibers because I have no interest in anything besides .22LR.  And as far as centerfire goes like I said mostly I will be using it on my M14 and with the Q/D design I can easily switch it out and put it on my AR or AK if I feel the need.
One question
Is there anything that I need to know about using the same silencer on multiple rifles?  I have read tidbits here and there about bore concentricity and baffle strikes how do I check the former to prevent the latter?
Also Im not sensing too much love for the prodigy why is this?  Is this particular can missing something?

I would also recommend that you wait until after SHOT Show - the new AAC 762-SDN is going to be NICE!  Shorter, quieter and mo' bullet proof (all inconel baffles) than the current 762-SD.  AAC designed this can specifically for military use (by the secret squirrel types).

On the deuce-deuce can, the new stainless steel Sparrow from Silencerco would be a GREAT choice, but there are a lot of premium .22 cans available to choose from.

I didn’t even think to check the Industry forum until now.  I have been reading about the new 762 SDN and that is defiantly the one that I want.  Im sure that the regular one will be just as good for a mall ninja like me but like I said earlier I would rather buy the best once than have to always second guess myself.
Do you have a definite release date on when you will have these new models in stock?  Also will these new models work with the 51 tooth Blackout?  And why is the 51 tooth Black out better than the 18 tooth model?  How long is the average transfer time from you to my dealer?

Also I have been doing a little bit of reading about Silencer Co Sparrow SS model.   I like that design and haven’t read anything bad about it.  However I don’t want to buy it just because it it’s the flavor of the month. If you were only going to buy once and wanted a can that would last a lifetime which would you go with AAC Prodigy or Silencer Co Sparrow SS model?

Easy.  I'd go with the Sparrow.  Just as quiet, a little smaller, much more durable, and much easier to disassemble.  Between the 22Sparrow and the 762SDN, you'll have the best and most versatile two-syppressor collection possible.

The 51 tooth is better because it has more teeth to engage, which lets you get the can tighter and they actually lock the suppressor on the mount.  The 18T mount uses a spring for tension.  It does not lock on.  I think the  762 SDN is the perfect across platform can.  You said that you want to use it on an AK.  AK barrels are notorious for not being concentric.  You can try to measure, but a company like ADCO would be better to check.  I can actually see it on my AK.  It shoots great, but a can would be disastrous on it.  Here is a vid comparing the 762 SD and the SDN.  http://vimeo.com/17437308.

For me the SS Sparrow is my top choice for a .22 suppressor.  I will be getting on in 2011.

Prodigy was my initial first choice until I discovered that aluminum wouldn't stand up to heavy duty cleaning.

If you want it to last forever, I would really suggest getting a can that is all stainless, all titanium, or a mix of the two and has takedown capability.  I went with a Liberty suppressors KODIAK TL for my needs.  Aluminum cans like the Prodigy can't survive "THE DIP" which is the easiest way to get lead desposits out of a can.  Only Titanium and Stainless Steel can survive the dip.

So I would suggest you look at something like that.

The Liberty Kodiak and Kodiak TL meter really well on both a rifle and a pistol.  That's what made my choice.  Several cans are awesome on a pistol but suck on a rifle and vise versa.  Example would be the SWR Spectre.  Awesome on a pistol...not so much on a rifle.

The Kodiak is rated for full auto use with 22LR and 22 WMR.  It's semi-auto rated for 5.7x28.  Pretty sure Stu told me 22 Hornet was also fine.

In a semi-related note, I've got an LRB M14SA that I absolutely LOVE!  It's the pride of my battle rifle collection.  You are going to absolutely love that M25.  Gemtech stocks a front sight base that uses the castlenut which has 5/8"x24 threads on it which replaces that standard M14 front sight unit.  I'm planning to get a Liberty Freedom 308 can (quietest 308 can Titsworth has tested under 2 lbs) for my Remington 5R and one of these adapters will allow me to use a standard threaded can on the M14.  Pretty slick.

I didn’t know Gemtech was making those adapters it looks the same “maybe it is” as the Delta P adapter.  That was recommended to me in another thread.
