I need to get my CMP '03 barrel changed, it is badly pitted in the bore due to rust.  Can anyone recommend a good '03 gunsmith?
Thanks

When did you get it? Have you contacted CMP about it? They have been more than willing to exchange rifles with rusty bores.

I got it like 2 years ago.

When I first got it it did have some minor pitting, I cleaned it up the best I could.  Since then I have fired some ammo throught it that I thought was non-corrosive and well....it was highly corrosive and it caused rust.

I cleaned that up pretty good and used the rifle some more, I then let a buddy of mine borrow it and I told him explictly to clean it when he was done and don't use corrosive ammo.

Well.....I just got it back from him yesterday and the first 3-4" of the bore are pure rust.  ( I almost had a heart attack!) I scrubbed the shit out of it and got the rust out but it left lots of damage in the bore, lots of small pits.  It almost looks like it was sandblasted with coarse abrasive, that's how bad it is.
