I think they are all fast helmets just you have fast bump, fast carbon (both the same size), then high cut ballisitc (same size as the bump and carbon just one size bigger because of the ballistic shell thickness), and superhigh cut (old name of maritime).

If your going to cut your helmet then I would just order a maritime (super high cut) cover one size smaller than your helmet. If you have a S/M helmet then you will have to deal with some looseness or have it modified. Some of the covers you have to watch out for if your doing it on a bump helmet as some covers have no cutout for the mount and is designed to bolt the shroud over the cover.

Ops core, first spear, Agilite, and few others I believe make covers for the maritime. TYR also makes some nice looking covers for a pretty good price at $70 I think but its a little bit of a wait since they are made to order. The Crye airframe cover also fits the fast helmets but might need some modding and you have to deal with the opening on the back for the airframe helmet vent.

You can also get a normal fast cover that is not maritime and mod it or do like some people do and just loosen the ARC tails and shove the cover edge under the rail and tighten them back down.

UR Tactical.  Overseas (chinese) company that makes helmet covers for M/L and L/XL size opscore helmets.  I've got a handful of them in different colors for different environments.  They're about 24 dollars a pop.  They do take a while to come in since they are coming in from out of the country but it's less than a month wait for them.

UR Tactical is great but they only make them for the high cut ballistic helmets so if you have a non ballistic helmet in s/m you are hosed. If you chop on your helmet to make it super high cut your also hosed... without modding them anyways.

Helmet project finished for now, love the higher cut and makes getting a good cheek contact with a rifle with little interference to Comms

Nice clean cut there!

I may have to set aside my ballistic and go back to a carbon and do what you did.

I use PVS31s WP at work and it's a night and day difference between green tubes and WP. It's hard to find the words but it's a huge upgrade.

Thanks

It’s right at 3.4lbs as pictured and with my on and off neck problems it’s the way to go with it being the weight of a ballistic helmet alone. I don’t get shot at really so no need for ballistic even though id like to add one someday.

I got a new helmet this week so I had to add some personal touches to make it feel like it's mine. I love everything about it so far, especially the 4D deluxe pads. Couldn't be happier. Also, threw in a potato pic using my phone through my tubes. it doesn't do it justice in the slightest bit.

Working on getting my helmet set up and stole an idea from one of the members (sorry, can't remember who). Made this little plate out of steel to house a Scout M300V when it comes in. For now it has my streetlight ProTac 1. Normally I would have used calipers and designed this on a computer first buuuuuut...I broke my calipers last week and my printer is out of ink so I winged it. Just need to add the finishing touches which will be a little black paint and Multicam fabric to the front face. It's solid as a rock. Scout Light screws are 8-32 and the plate screws are 1/4x20 with square nuts.

Awesome design on that light mount. Thats a TW LTP, right? When you get it finished, I might be in for a similar mount.

Is there any way to change a TW t-nut type peltor adapter to the quick release kind or do I have buy an entirely different set of adapters?  Because I might need one of those adapter plates @fivefivesixphoto

Thanks dude. What I need to do is sit down and work out a solid design that I can send out to be laser cut. That would be sweeeeeet. And yeah, it is a TW LTP.

I don't think there is a way to change it to the QD adapters. You would need a new set. But I think a similar plate could be made to fit right were the T nuts are on the T nut adapters. That was my original plan until I realized I accidentally ordered the QD adapters.

Maybe slightly smaller and skeltonized and with multiple light mounting holes like an arisaka scout mount.

I think you got it nailed as is.  If you were to make one that fit in the same holes as the adaptor it would necessitate moving the light higher to clear the top of the peltor adapter's half circle body.

I think it would sell, maybe more so if TW hadn't shot themselves in their own foot.  Easy/cheap to produce with plenty of room for a markup and still be "affordable" in NV hobby terms.  Easy to store, easy to ship.  Startup wouldn't be much.  Hope nobody rips off your idea.

I'll accept 1 free adapter from your first production run as fee for my brilliance/genius/foresight/extremely good looks .

Ok, @Rlltd42, Firefighter503 and 4DoorEkk, I sat down this morning and came up with a solid design and have already sent it out for quotes. I made it so the angle of the light will be pretty damn adjustable. I'm thinking I will have them cerakoted black and FDE.

Looks like a gpnvg battery pack wired to a ball mount. I always thought it was too much juice for 2 tubes since it was designed for 4 tubes but guess you can run it.

Sure. The MPLS came with a Mount for the side of a mich, I just removed the couple screws holding on the hook and slapped a heavy duty piece of Velcro to it.

I think they now offer an “above the rail” mount for 20 bucks. But I was cheap...

Yep. $70 instead of the $600 the gov paid for my GPNVG battery pack, same functionality. Even looks the same - aside from a color difference you can't easily tell it apart. I've got an ANVIS pack for when this inevitably fails.

Thanks! It's a paint Job. The colors I used are Hobby lobby OD green, Rustoleum camouflage tan, Rustoleum camouflage dark green, and Rustoleum flat protective enamel brown. I also used sponges from hobby lobby. I did a blend of the greens and then dabbed on the dark brown followed by the tan. For the browns I sprayed them into a paper bowl so clean up was easy.
