I heart the frikkin crap out of this thing!!!

I have absolutely no reason to own it but LOVE that I have it.
it's surplus and the images are clear as water in a crystal flute.

naked eye (iphone)

you can index off the light in the photo above.

ive got it set up with an ACH helmet rig, but I'm in the process of building a CVC setup because its much more comfortable.

its tough to hold the iphone camera up to the eyepiece and get everything inline.  is that about the only way to take a picture through 'em?

Very nice, and welcome to the sickness! You don't "need" it but it probably won't be the last piece of night vision you buy.

They're awesome! I love mine and prefer it over the PVS-14 for walking around, driving, sky-gazing, etc.

However, if you paid more than $20 you got suckered.

Do you really prefer it for walking around? I've heard the opposite from most but I've never owned a 7, only the 14 and other monoculars. I'd like to try a pair one day.

I have owned and extensively used the 7 and the 14, I no longer have a 14. I do intend to move into a dual tube as soon as Horta is willing to help me find one.

... a dual tube with autofocus..

or a chip that I can implant in my retina that will read thermal and IR will do..

Love the 7's too.  The 14 is meant for hostile situations, makes more sense in that capacity (more awareness, preserving natural night vision on your right eye, etc..)

QFT.

My high-drag, low-speed pure awesomeness is better suited to the 7's. If I were a HSDM, Jason Bourne-type I'd probably prefer the 14's. Since the average Girl Scout Brownie could kick my ass I'm all about the PVS-7.
