Ok. Now this one is awesome. She is a 1946 Beach. If you know about these guns you know the stocks usually look like beaver teeth testers. Not this one. She is accesorized with an original 1945 sling, and a 1940 M1918 bayonet (ELSENER SCHWYZ) that is in better than excellent condition.

Looks like you got a very nice rifle.  My looks like that now but I had to refinish it.

Looks good! I wish I had a sling for mine. My K31 is not really a C&R yet! It was made in 1956. The bayonet is only a few numbers away and the bayonet frog is 50's dated. My stock looks like it was on the back of a Swiss soldier who fell down the side of a rocky mountain!

I would start reloading 7.5 Swiss. My gun loves a nice mild-medium load with IMR 4895 and Nosler J4 168gr HPBT, or Hornady 155gr Amax. Try to stay away from flat base bullets... mine shot poorly with 165gr Rem Core-lokts. Buy some Wolf Gold for once-fired brass, or get some new stuff from Grafs. It really does not matter as both kinds of brass are the same...both are made by Prvi in Yugoslavia.

If anyone is looking for a K31 sling, this guy tassadar1208.home.mindspring.com/schmidt.htm makes repro slings. The reviews say his work is outstanding. Only $25.

I'm just posting this for info. I am not associated with him in any way.

Migrabill,

Beautiful Swiss lady found you.  Excellent choice.

2 beech ladies are coming from Allan's Armory to live with me.  Hope they don't mind Ingrid and Greta, of the darker, walnut persuasion, who are already here.   Good thing nobody's jealous.

Regards,

Rick

The tag reads 7.54. It also has a B on it. I was told, don't know if its true, that this is a rather rare aresenal bore inspection tag. At some point when this rifle went thru inspection of the bore, this tag with the results were put on it. I have been told they go from a to e with a being th best and the penciled 7.54 reflects the bore score. This could, of course, all be BS.

Where is the date typically stamped on a K31?  I don't see a year stamped on mine...

there is a link on the swissrifles forum where you can determine its year of manufacture based upon its serial number.  there are year marks on some rifles, but IIRC, that is a overhaul date.

Nice rifle. I just bought another today.  I'll post up some pics when I clean her up.
