Ok picked it up yesterday, shot it a bit today, all I gota say is WOW. No recoil and I was able to hit a target printed on an 8X10 peice of paper at 100yards. Shot at it 7 times total and 4 landed on the kill zone of the target 2 hit paper but not on the target, and one hit next to it. It is important to note that it was high wind, dim where I was shooting from so all I had was a right around the target and not the dot crosshair, and all of the shots would have made center mass on an actual full size IDPA or IPSC style target.

I shot a stack of taped together phone books with it and was amazed at how the rounds were found sideways in the back of the third phone book. Looked like damage done by a 223 just not as deep. I shot a protein shake bottle filled with water with great results. I have shot waterbottles including one of these before with 22lr, 22magnum, 9mm ball, 9mm hp, 40cal, 45, and 223. Both the 22s normally zip right through making a leak, the 9mm ball normally does but will knock it over, and the rest of the pistol rounds at least burst it. However, the 223 is the only round I had fired at it that actually splashes the volume of water everywhere. I had the camera real close thinking it would sorta splash like a pistol round or go straight through. I was wrong the thing exploded like the 223 shot making the camera really wet. Oh, yeh and it performs about the same as 223 on steel, with a little less of a thump.

Sweet rifle. How comfortable is it? I never thought the p90 looked comfortable to hold. How do you like the sight?

Very very comfortable to hold and to shoot. The thing weights clost to what an AR weights but you would never know it because it is balanced better and the weight is supported by your arm not your wrist.

The sight sucks and is the first thing that will be replaced.

That's what I heard about the sights. What kind of options are out there as far as replacements? I was thinking about getting a ps90 so I am just trying to find out pros/cons.

Did the whole thing tonight. Very nice look now. Still gota get rid of the holosite and the long barrel.

The sites are easy to replace, you can just put one of about three or four types of rail mounts on the top. Then you can put on any type of site you want. My first choice would be a acog compact since the thing is distance accurate. My option for now will probably be bushnells new holosite.

What did you use to black out the stock? The green stock was another thing about the ps90 that I didn't care too much for. It looks awesome in black.

I went through a little process to do mine. I first dyed it with rits dye and it got to a very dark grey color. I did this because if the coating I put on it chips it will not be a big noticeable green chunk. Next I used a new product I found that was lable Krylon Plastic. It is suppose to bond with plastic surfaces. I have some duracaot as a backup plan because I have heard that solvents remove the krylon plastic sometimes. I did read the can and it is suppose to be strongest after 7 days of drying. So it is dry in 10min, for handling in 1hour, for use after 24, and completely chip resistant after 7 days. I guess someone slovented the stuff before that time. We will see no biggy if I have to duracoat it.

I liked the OD so much that I made a single point using OD webbing to match it

The black looks too much like airsoft (which is made to copy the real P90). I'm sticking with the OD.

If you use standard mag pouches for the P90 mags, watch out for rounds popping out. I found that smacking the mag a few times on a hard surface or object can cause the first round to pop loose sometimes. I believe FN uses special mag pouches that have a cap of some sort that prevents this from happening. I suppose someone with a mold can make dust covers that can also do the same job.

Yeh I dont have the vest setup for it yet. In fact I just grabbed that a couple weeks ago from cheaper than dirt. Just so happened that when I got it there was foam in there and I just replaced that with actual balistic pannels. I am looking a blackhawk flare pouches to contain p90 mags. SBR paperwork is going out soon too.

I had considered desert tan also.

Just curious: How easy/hard is it to separate the halves and remove/install the trigger group and safety selector? I thought about separating mine for a total clean up. They used way too much oil at the factory and it drips/seeps out of the seams periodically.

Not hard at all. Just make sure you dont lose any of the peices. The hardest part is getting the two little plastic things back into the safty switch. Even that isnt that hard. That is about as far as I would go for cleaning. I wouldnt take the trigger pack appart. Actually dont take that apart, doing so could be bad.

Well it isnt easy to do any of that but if you were just sitting there not paying attention and sit them down while you were cleaning you could lose parts. Also, the trigger pack will not just fall apart, you would have to take pins out. It is imparative that no one do that though.

the trigger pak is literally a pack. The hammer, disconnector, etc... are in a module ala Steyr AUG. You couldn't accidentally take it apart if you wanted to!

Rit dye in very hot, almost boiling water should dye it well enough to take permanetly.

Looks good as is. My PS90 should be here this week or next. The boss decided to bonus me with one for work I've done lately.

I hate when that happens.

Dye job looks really good. I've got two of them and am going to have one duracoated and leave the other one stock.

I was really impressed with the accuracy of the rifle. We had a guy on the range yesterday who had never shot a gun before and after a safety lecture and a few shots he was able to shoot 12oz water bottles standing unsupported at 50yds.

I only have a small handful of SS196. I cannot find any SS195-SS197 forless than $20/box anymore. I'd buy SS196 if someone had it for under $20/box.I do not care about how low the velocity is compared to 197.

Have any of you tried the blackhawk sling for the ps90? I got one and it sucks. The bottom strap won't fit throught the slot and I don't trust the velcro to stay tight enough to retain the weapon. If the strap was just a little thinner it might work okay, but as is I wouldn't trust it to hold a bb gun.

Prices are starting to drop due to increased production. That said availability is still very low in relation to demand and price will stay well above dealer prices. It is reported that around 600 of these have been delivered and there are 10,000 of these backordered. These were selling in upwards of $3k but prices seem to now be in the $2k-$2,5k . I bet when the black factory guns become available they will command a premium price and will bring back the $3k sale prices due the their being a limited production item. Black guns are suppossed tobe available in April but delivery is now estimated as 6 months out. Its rumored that black guns will be produced as regular items but if the limited production, ie first blk ones, are delayed then most likely the std production ones will be as well.

Koga and a few others have black PS90s. IMHO the "genuine" black PS90s won't be really worth much more since you can pay $80 for a proper dye job. So that means the "lowly" green PS90s can be made to look exactly like the black PS90s very easily.

I hope FN starts pumping out more and more ammo. The prices are bound to drop little by little as the supply exceeds the demand. Available and relatively inexpensive 5.7x28 ammo benefits everyone.

Ill have to wait till Im in the grave before I can afford one. Theyll always be in demand and Ill always want one. Ill take a black one with 10,000 rounds and 10 mags please. Arent other companies supposed to be producing 5.7 ammo soon? That will cheapen it. Oh man the more I look the more I want. Anyone know if mags will be made cheaper soon?

About the ritz dye: I just did my SL8 about a month ago. What I did was get a big foil like baking pan from the supermarket but enough for my parts to fit in. Then I put it on the oven burners and filled it halfway with water and two whole packs of black ritz dye. Then I turned the burners on medium high and let it heat up. Put in my parts and left them in for about a half hour.

They went from a light gray to black pretty easily so Im not sure why you used the black paint. The dye would definately be more durable than the paint. Maybe the plastic wont soak it up like other plastics?

Its really easy to do but Id try to remove any metal parts before hand or at least oil them up really good afterword.

Did the dye first. I have dyed SL8s and USCs... for the same reason you didnt dye that stock... is the same reason I applied black over the thing. The dye will at best make it a very dark grey or a very dark brown. I did this first so if the paint ever scratched or chipped it would not be too noticeable and then I painted it.

The sights aren't totally bad, but if you think about it, FN didn't really lie.
The day sight is really for the day and works well if there's a lot of sunlight against a darker backdrop. The night sight is really for night use where your eyes have had hours to adjust to the darkness.
For high speed CQB-style stuff, you have your regular iron sights and a laser / flashlight. I've practiced using the PS90 in different environments and find that the crude iron sights are there for a reason and should be used when there is a need. Of course, an EOTech, Aimpoint, or ACOG BAC is probably a better solution.

Trijicon uses a polarizing filter on their Reflex for better contrast. Try this trick: hold something opaque over the objective "lens" of the PS90 sight and use it like an OEG (keep both eyes open, let the brain transpose the reticle over the targets), but keep the fiber optic collector pointed at something bright. Notice how much clearer the reticle appears!!
What we really need is some type of cap/filter over that aperture for better day reticle clarity/contrast.
