Quoted: Used precision rifles go down in value like a used suv due to guys wanting to break in their own rifle, most serious precision shooters won't buy someone else's rifle because they have no idea what the previous shooter did to it in terms of cleaning and breaking in the barrell. I have a few precision rifles and know they are worth nowhere near what I paid for them...they are only worth alot to me.

Very true.............however ONE of the nice thing about Savages is the ease of barrel swaps.
You can do it on your bench with a chamber guage. No lathe....no chamber reamer.
Chances are its something the guy got stuck with and is looking to dump.
Remember Savage 308s are 1-10 twist not 1-12.............they like heavy bullets compared to your normal 1-12 700 Remmys. Mine loves 180g Noslers BTs and SMKs in front of 44-45.5g of Varget. It never was that great with 150g-168g. YMMV
ETA: Mine likes the bullet .010-.015 off the lands.............again YMMV.
