How do I discern the exact model of this bolt action?  Doesn't say anything else on the barrel.  Or am I just unknowingly stupid?  (not the first time I've accused myself of such an ignorant question)

20" heavy barrel

Accutrigger

Standard Stock (internal mag)

Harris Ultralight 3-6" Bipod

Leupold Mark 4 PR 3X9X40 Mildot Scope

Badger Ordinance Rings (swapped with Leupolds as the Badgers were too high for my cheek weld)

All for $700....looks good to me

It's a 308...I think it's the Leupold Mark 4 PR 3X9X40 (SWFA has em for $489) which puts the rifle AND Harris Bipod at $211 which sounds like a STEAL to me!  The rifle package is in EXCELLENT shape.  Just wanted to be sure it's their mistake and not my oversight.

Seems like a fantastic deal to me!

according to the Blue Book(23rd ed):
Model 10FP LE1......20" heavy bbl....no sights......new 2002

everything else with a heavy bbl was 24"

The same listing is in my 2005 Gun digest (which typically doesnt have as many models listed)

NOTE** Both state that the FP LE1 is dual pillar bedded.(Savages still like a skim bed job though,my 10BVSS is in dire need of one)

Used precision rifles go down in value like a used suv due to guys wanting to break in their own rifle, most serious precision shooters won't buy someone else's rifle because they have no idea what the previous shooter did to it in terms of cleaning and breaking in the barrell. I have a few precision rifles and know they are worth nowhere near what I paid for them...they are only worth alot to me.

Very true.............however ONE of the nice thing about Savages is the ease of barrel swaps.
You can do it on your bench with a chamber guage. No lathe....no chamber reamer.

Chances are its something the guy got stuck with and is looking to dump.

Remember Savage 308s are 1-10 twist not 1-12.............they like heavy bullets compared to your normal 1-12 700 Remmys. Mine loves 180g Noslers BTs and SMKs in front of 44-45.5g of Varget. It never was that great with 150g-168g. YMMV

ETA: Mine likes the bullet .010-.015 off the lands.............again YMMV.

Leupold Mark 4 3X9X40 Mildot

Lake City 2004 NATO spec FMJ's...

1 MOA at 100 Yards

1.5 MOA at 200 Yards

Holy Smokes, this rascal is ACCURATE.  I went to sight it in today at the range.  Set up at the 50 Yard line - bullseye.  Laughed, packed everything up & moved to the 100 yard line.  Bullseye.  Laughed, put a target at the 200 yard line.  Just low of the bullseye.   Adjusted the elevation.

BULLSEYE!
