I SBR's an 870 quite some time ago and didn't do much with it. I had it set up for a while as a 14" decked out with a bunch of tac crap but it was so damn heavy I didn't shoot it much. Decided to make it an HD gun so I put a 12" bbl on it with a railed forend so I could add a TLR1 light, installed a Trijicon night sight, added an ACE hand stop, and put the straight stock back on it. I am a lefty so the TLR1 on the left side works perfectly activated with my right index finger. 00 Buck out of the 12" bbl. keeps a close enough pattern to put all pellets on target at the distance of my longest room of the house. Really no need for the 14" spare bbl.

supermo:

It has a limbsaver pad on it, not the stock crap. I can shoot a dozen or so magnum slugs with no problems and bird shot is actually FUN to shoot. The little shorty Aquila Slugs feel like I am shooting one of my AR's. I can get 6 of the little Aquila slugs in a 4 round mag tube.

No +1. Just a 4 round mag tube and one in the pipe and 6 on the side. If I can't get the job done with 11 rounds of 00 Buck I am in deep $hit.

Will a SBR stamp allow you to SB a shotgun or is that a different hoop to jump through?

In a nutshell, SBR= Short-Barreled Rifle, SBS= Short-Barreled Shotgun. Virtually identical paperwork, but different weapons.

Nice shotty. What forearm set up is that?

Thanks

How tall are you and what's the LOP?
Link Posted: 9/23/2012 2:22:50 PM EST
Other than the smiley face just not being my style and my paranoia hating the idea of it being in front of a jury, the gun is awesome.

Just something brutal about a well done SBS.

I'd be tempted to add "Smile. Wait for flash." on the handstop

ImpacTT: I had the stock 18" bbl. cut down to 14" and then I purchased a spare 18" from Brownells and had that cut down to 12". Now I have a choice between 12" & 14".

PaladinM1911: The forend is made by Wilson Combat.

Is the barrel cut down or factory 12"? NIce SBS.

Great looking shotgun. I need to add that to the list of things to do. SBS.

I went through similar changes on mine. I started out with a Hogue 12" LOP stock, sidesaddle, and a Surefire railed fore end for a light.

I then switched to the stock forearm with a piece of rail attached for the light but my thumb would run into the back of it under recoil.

I now switched over to the Mesa Tactical Urbino stock, velcro on the side for removable shell holders, and the Magpul MOE forearm with scout light mount. I think I'm done changing things on it.

I even have a happy cap on mine also, they're made by Dlask Arms just outside of Vancouver. I had asked them if they'd make blank ones so you could custom engrave them but no luck yet.

Thanks, it's an ESSTAC shotgun card held to the side of the receiver with industrial strength velcro. Seems to be working quite well so far. The case is a discreet model from LaRue Tactical.

Beautiful weapons! Are you guys running any chokes on these? I'm torn between 12.5 and 14 inch with one round extension. What kind of patterns are you getting with 00 buck?

I really like this shotty and it inspired me to buy another 870 the other day. Would like to see what it would look like with the barrel about 2" longer.

Just found out today that Magpul's MOE handguard will not work on my new 870 Super Mag. Damn, that really sucks!

I don't have a choke on mine (just cut it down with a saw) and I get a pattern around the size of an outstretched hand at 20 yards with low-recoil 00 buck. Flight control rounds should do better if you need it.

finally received my order from dlask today. took forever to get it and he forgot one of the happy cap. Quality is so so. I think they changed the design so buyer beware.
