I am wondering if there is a product out there that attaches to suppressor mount muzzle devices like AAC's 18T/51T/90T and Surefire's mounts etc... that is designed to protect the teeth from damage when not running a can.  Something similar to a thread protector, very simple design that keeps the mount teeth intact.  Seems like a good idea, but I have never seen or heard of one.  Maybe I should be drawing up blueprints instead of posting this here....  If they don't exist, who would be interested in a product like this?

YHM does make a giant thread protector for their QD mounts. I believe they are Acme threads. Maybe a YHM cover would be compatable.

Are AAC mounts threaded to an Acme pitch?

It was less the thread and more the actual teeth that seem to get damaged and cause issues occasionally.  I do not know what AAC uses for a thread pitch.  I'll look into it, thanks for the info.

AAC suppressor mounts are replaceable. Adding another piece would just mean that there's something else to get lost and would kind of take away from the quick attach/detach ability that is the whole reason for that mount.

Any competent machine shop could make one if you really wanted it.

I realize the QD part of it, it would simply be something to use during training when I know I will not be using the can at all.  Of course they are replaceable, but at $150 a pop for the brake it would be nice if there was a cheap $20 item that could save those teeth from wear and tear.  Would be especially useful for those that have pinned/welded mounts as those are a lot more costly to replace due to the labor involved.

What would you be doing that  could possible lead to tooth wear on your mount? Other then attaching the can.
What would be nice is if they came out with a flaming pig type flash hider to tame the blast of the brake when there is no can attached.

Indeed.  The only question is with what? Gemtech? YHM? ...
