This is a spin off of Old Painless' thread about cleaning. (I didn't want to hijack his thread)

How many of you store a dry barrel versus a wet barrel?

What are your reasons for either method.

I specifically store dry because I need to be able to use mine immediately and cannot take to the time to swab out a barrel.

I'll go ahead and admit something that will get me hollered at.

I always finish my barrel cleaning with a light swipe of WD-40 through the barrel.

WD-40 is a very light oil (mainly a mineral spirit type solvent) and does not leave much of a residue.

I have found no prpoblem with shooting through my barrels without a dry patch. My cold shot is usually in the group.

Wet and I never run a dry patch before shooting either. Been doing it that way for the last 32 years.

I run a very lightly oiled patch through the barrell before storing, and when I get ready to shoot, I shoot as-is, no dry patch first.
